EGR valve & oxygen sensors problem the above mentioned items have been identified as a problem with these vehicles by dealer & private mechanics. A service bulletin was sent out in 1997 with a summary that provides if nothing else a temporary fix. I have spent several hundred dollars fixing this problem over the last 5 years and would like to have some type of reimbursement, preferably a recall to have it fixed permanently. I have viewed others comments on this vehicle and it is an overall problem. Seems like the manufacturer is not taking any responsibility. Since your questions below do not prvide room for explanation in the crash column, I would like to remind everyone that when these valves get clogged up the vehicle literally seizes. Just stops, nice thought! …
While driving vehicle caught on fire. Investigation showed that fluid was overflowing out of the transfer case and traveling to the catalytic converter and exhaust system. The fluid overflowed to the hot manifold and exhaust system causing the fire. The consumer stated that the transmission was replaced and the seal that connects the transfer case was not replaced. The consumer stated that when the flammable liquid from the transmission went into the transfer case the seal gave way. The consumer stated that the placement of the vent tube over the hot exhaust is a dangerous design flaw and should be recalled due to fire hazard. The consumer stated the seal was replaced and she was overcharged. The consumer would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the repair. …
We purchased a 95 Chevy Blazer from a dealer used at the end of October 2002. Less than 60 days later, the oil cooler line fell apart and all oil drained from the engine in 30-60 seconds, causing complete engine failure. The vehicle seized up in trafic in a dangerous area and there was not time to drive to a safe area to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who told us that this was a factory defect and suggested that we contact the dealer as the engine must be replaced. The dealer contacted Chevrolet who has declined all responsibility and knowledge of this problem, yet there are numerous consumer complaints about the oil hose. Despite the fact that the vehicle was purchased less than 60 days before, we now are facing a repair bill that is half the cost of the vehicle and the dealer's response was "too bad."
4 EGR valves (and I have got to put the 5th one on now) in the last 3 years $200.00 each. 2 cmfi units because of the fuel pressure regulator leaking the whole unit has to be replaced $500.00 each. Fuel pumps $80.00 each transmission has slipped at different times. Cooling is a problem it has never overheated but it would like to in the summer. I am a mechanic and all of my cars are taken care of to the slightest detail but it is not normal to replace this stuff more than a couple of times in the life of a car much less a couple of times a year.
ABS braking problems. Tt consumer experienced braking problems when go to apply brakes they will grab and there is some delay and lack of control this has happened on four different occasion in which two of the resulted in accidents, also rear windshield wiper was replaced, and rivets on the fan belt were replaced as part of a recall, also head rest has a split, and when engine is warm engine runs at 3000 RPM.
Cooler hoses started to leak at 39,500 miles , 10 months later it had to be replaced again. 2 years and 3 months later, consumer was driving on highway when hoses pulled apart, causing oil to spill all over engine and it seized engine. The consumer believes the hoses were defective. The dealer wanted to replace the engine, but the consumer was unable to pay for the high cost of replaceing the engine.
The oil cooler line (4.3w) on my Chevy s10 Blazer came out of the crimp and caused considerable damage to my engine. The dealer who sold and does work on this vehicle says it is not their fault and the repair price tag is quite a large sum! I would like to know why and how can Chevy let a "defect" of this magnitude go unnoticed! I do not feel it is my responsibility to pay for this repair!
We have had numerous problems with the EGR valve being clogged!now we have had problems with the fuel system.we have had the fuel pump changed, and now it's back in the shop due to the spider.the ABS brakes also don't work properly.are there recalls due to the fuel system?
