What owners report

My BSM sensors were blinking and a notice came up on the console to check BSM indicators. I manually turned off this function and back on---the light was blinking and the BSM sensors were still not working correctly. When I brought it in the dealership today they did some tests and looked at it and said they needed to replace the BSM wire harness because of water damage getting into the rear bumper. The estimate was for 1,0588.49 for repare. I think if Toyota is selling blind spot monitors as a safety feature, they should last more than 2 years and needs to be recalled. This is an off road vehicle? This seems like a common problem after researching it online and it's a safety hazard, not to mention the vehicle is only 2 years old.

Rodents ate wiring harness in engine compartment, while driving in the city, the trac and check engine light cane on. I returned home and retrieved error code p0333 on my reader. I took vehicle to doxon Toyota for service / repair. They confirmed code and said that rodents had chewed knock sensor wire harness. I was told that tis was not covered by warranty even though the vehicle was less than two years and less than 9000 miles of use. I consider that making electrical components out of material that is attractive and tasty to rodents a traction and air-bag safety concern, I.e. Soybean based wire insulation. I have been operating motor vehicles since 1963 and have never had this happen to ant vehicle I have owned.

ABS warning lights came on with stability warning light, 10 amp fuse blew, brake lights stop working, stick shift locked. Replaced 10 amp fuse warning lights went away but by driving the car the brakes start to stall the car making it impossible to keep driving and all the warning lights described before came back on. But this time the stick shift did not lock. Safety hazard. When the problem started the vehicle was stationary, but then it happen on the road.

Brakes on vehicle lock-up and are overly sensitive. On many occasions when driving on wet pavement at slows speeds the ABS engaged and locked the brakes with only very light pressure on the brake pedal. On one occasion when driving at 10-15 MPH in a parking lot in snow, a light touch to the brake locked up the brakes causing the vehicle to become unstable and crash. I have had four other Toyota trucks, three of them tacomas and none of them had this braking issue. Barely pressing the brakes shouldn't cause them to lock up which causes the vehicle to become very unstable. Luckily it does it more often at low speeds. It's a major safety concern as the vehicle becomes undrivable.
