Brakes
Brake master cylinder is leaking into the cab, truck has 80k miles on it. OEM replacement part only available through Toyota dealer (Part number: 47050-04092) is INSANE at $1500. No warning indicators, just a puddle of brake fluid on my floor mat.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. While driving 30 MPH, the vehicle did not respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle continued to roll and slowed down. The vehicle crashed into the preceding vehicle at 2 MPH. The air bags did not deploy and there were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to cherokee county Toyota (301 liberty blvd, canton, ga 30114, [phone]). The dealer replaced the master cylinder and brake booster, but new brakes were not installed. The dealer refused to give the vehicle back to the contact. The manufacturer was notified and provided a case number. The contact was advised not to touch the vehicle. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Transmission & drivetrain
While driving the vehicle there is a groaning sound coming from the front end of the Tacoma from the front differential. There is a TSB from Toyota, but they only cover it under warranty and are not treating it as a recall. TSB # 0026-15. I think this is something that is causing wear to the front differential and could cause further damage/could lead to a crash if something was to lock up. The sound is consistent from 15-55 MPH no matter the driving.
In the past two years my Tacoma has had to have the air switching valve replaced twice. Vehicle going into limp mode is not safe. Dealer tells me I need to drive it more than 5K miles a year. So I need to drive more to make an emission component work better? How does that even make sense.
