What owners report
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while stationary and attempting to exit the vehicle from the driver's side, the interior driver's side door handle fractured, preventing the opening or locking of the door from the inside. The handle remained physically attached to the door panel but was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be inspected. While at the dealer, it was discovered that another Tacoma at the dealer had a similar interior door handle failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,476.
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the inside driver's side door handle fractured and was flopping. The contact was unable to exit the vehicle through the driver's side door and was concerned that in the event of a crash or an emergency, the door would fail open as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact over the phone that the part to repair the vehicle was on back order. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
All interior door handles have a plastic piece within the door panel that can snap under normal operation, resulting in loss of ability to exit the vehicle while inside. My vehicle, and many other 4th Generation Tacoma owners, have reported this happening. For my situation, my driver's interior door handle does not engage the door latch mechanism as of [redacted]. The window must be rolled down and outside handle pulled to open the door. Upon taking it to the dealer on October 3rd, the part is to be replaced with the original part that was installed. The issue has been stated by the service department at Wyatt Johnson Toyota (Clarksville, TN) as being a nationwide issue. That part is on national backorder and I am driving this vehicle until that part arrives at an unknown date per the dealership. …
I've had this truck for less than 2 years and the driver's indoor handle has snapped and broken twice. The handle stays intact but the inner component breaks. The only way to open the door is from the outside of the vehicle. This is extremely dangerous in case of an emergency. I either have to roll the window down to open the window from the outside or climb out of the drivers seat and use an alternate door in the car. The dealership fixed the issue the first time and advised that this has been happening to other customers as well. I will be taking my vehicle back to fix again next week. My car is under warranty, however, if my car was not under warranty, the dealership would've expected me to pay for the fix, despite this being a safety related issue.
The 2016-2022 White double cab Toyota Tacomas have a known paint flaking/peeling issue. On 2/1/2026 while drying my truck after its wash, on the driver's rear door by the window rubber trim my paint was flaking off. On 2/2/26 I spoke with an agent at Toyota Corporation (but she was on the Lexus side) about my issue and was told my VIN was not part of the Customer Support Program 23TE08 and she didn't know of Tacomas paint failure. On 2/3/26 I spoke with another agent at Toyota Corporation (this time Toyota side) about my issue and she knew about the paint issue but told me that my VIN was not part of that program. I told her that my paint flaking/peeling issue was the same issue that Toyota was having on their 2016-2022 and mine is a 2022 Tacoma. The Location of my paint flaking/peeling issue the same place where other white Tacomas were experiencing the same problem. …
I have a 2022 white Toyota Tacoma trd4x4. The paint is chipping in the inside fender on the left side. I did some research and looks like there was a recall for this very issue and that Toyota was reimbursing for the repairs. I called Toyota today and they said that I'm vin doesn't fall in that recall. A vehicle that is less that 3 years old new shouldn't have the paint chipping. I don't drive the vehicle much and don't use it in extreme conditions. They refused to help and stated I'm out of warranty. The recall was for the same issue I am having on all white tacomas on the inner fender and window areas. They didn't want to help because my white is not the same code. But thought it was funny because it's the same issue, same color and defective in the same place. On top of that, paint shouldn't chip in 3 years from new to now when the vehicle has been garage kept and has only 20k miles. …
The cabin vent system appears to have a design defect, specifically the passenger-side vent located in the back of the cabin. This component is available for inspection upon request. The dealership, Santa Cruz Toyota, has declined to replace the part despite acknowledging the issue. The concern lies in the vent's design, as it allows water to enter the cabin instead of just expelling air. The water intrusion caused by this malfunction poses a safety risk in two ways. First, the presence of water on the floor increases the chance of an electrical fire due to the numerous electrical wires running underneath. Second, mildew spores can grow on the wet undercarpet padding, creating a health hazard. This problem has been confirmed by Santa Cruz Toyota, and we have video evidence to support the claim. …
Toyota addressed this issue with the frame paint peeling off long ago but they have not launched a customer support program to solve the problem yet. When we reached their Brand Engagement center line ([phone]) and they do not provide a hard or estimated date to launch the repair program. The vehicle was already inspected by Round Rock Tx Toyota service (PDF page) certifying the issue is a manufacturer responsibility. Please take care of this situation promptly.
