The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being inspected, the rack went through the subframe of the vehicle due to excessive rust. The subframe was completely rusted through. The subframe fell apart into pieces, and the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. The contact became aware of Technical Service Bulletin: 14/002/18rvea, referencing an extended warranty coverage; however, no recall had been issued. The warranty coverage only covered up to 12 years. The subframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the fuel tank frame bracket had detached, and the fuel tank was hanging loose. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics, who determined that the frame rail bracket and fuel tank straps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance because the vehicle was imported from Canada. The contact was advised to contact a customs broker for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
While I was driving my wife and I heard a sound that was similar to a ratchet strap being run over while attached to a vehicle. Once in my drive way I began to inspect what the noise could have been. After looking underneath my truck I could see my GAS TANK hanging at almost a 45 degree angle. I crawled underneath to see what had happened and found that 1 of 2 fuel tank straps had been ripped out of the frame of the truck. It wasn't until later that I found a 12 year unlimited mile warranty was available. After speaking to a Ram dealer they informed me that ONLY the fuel straps were covered under the warranty and NONE of the damages that occur from their flawed and failed design are covered under that and if I want it covered then I would have to file a claim with my insurance. …
My 2014 Ram's cab is allowing water to enter into the interior. This appears to be a very common problem with this era of Ram. First, I noticed my third brake light would blow at least once a year. If you do not replace it, the information center on the truck displays that the driver brake light is out, which it is not and is a completely different bulb. I realized this after stopping at the parts store, buying a new driver side brake light, only to determine it was the third brake light. After each rain, I notice a strong mildew smell in my truck. I then noticed a large water stain on the headliner above the rear passenger seat. I have replaced the bulb to the third brake light once a year and the housing light assembly and gasket twice. Water is either entering from the third brake light or from the black roof trim that run from the front windshield to the rear windshield. …
The front fuel tank strap mounting bracket broke. There is a recall (U-04/NHTSA 18V-160) for model years 2009-2012 for this issue. It also was added to models thru 2018 as TSB/Ext. Warranty #14-002-18 Rev. A., which expired on my vehicle in March 2026. This means that the expense will be out of my pocket. What I don't understand is, it is a known safety issue on 2009-2018 Ram 1500 trucks, but only a recall for model years 2009-12. And since the recall doesn't presently cover my model year (2014), there was no notification of this issue sent to me. I believe that since it is a known issue included in a recall/TSB of model years through 2018, the recall should be extended to cover all model years. …
Fuel Tank Hanger Broke. The fuel tank was hanging. Repair person confirmed the frame had rotted, and the mounting bracket was not good. Fuel tank needed to be removed and the new bracket was installed and the fuel tank reinstalled. Safety was at risk - fire/explosion hazard. Contacted the Dodge dealer and was unable to secure an appointment for two weeks . This was unacceptable. First noticed problem on 03/03/22. Repair taken place on 03/07/22. Located a recall for this exact problem on 2009-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks - my exact model. My truck is a 2014 with only 103360 miles. This issue on new models of the Dodge Ram 1500 after 2012 should be investigated and repairs should be reimbursed to truck owners who have been forced to make repairs - especially when the dealer could not accommodate with an appointment.
Ram has a recall for this vehicle for the fuel tank strap attachment point on the frame. It is their x75 recall. The part on my truck is completely rotted out exactly why the recall was made. My truck is 8 months outside of the recall period so Ram will not replace the part. The frame has obviously been rotting for a long time and who knows how long the fuel tank has only been supported with one strap. This is a huge safety concern and one that Ram is refusing to repair because it is outside of the time line. I can provide photos of the rotted out area as well as strap that is rotting as well. A known issue like this should not have a time line and should be replaced at no cost. Original in service date for the vehicle was February 18, 2014
Was backing into a parking stall, I turned the wheel to the right and started to back up, when I did this, the lower control are broke away from the frame of the truck. The truck was taken to Hendricks Dodge in Charlotte, NC. It was inspected, determined that it was a manufacture failure. It was submitted to insurance as well, they had an independent investigator look at it, they also determined that it was a manufacture failure. Had I been on the road or interstate this would have caused a major accident. Submitted an Insurance claim. Claim was denied, stating it was a Manufacture Failure. Insurance Company Hired an Independent Appraiser / Investigator. No warnning lights or indicators.
Suspension is air ride and is defected. It stops working and makes the truck bounce with any disturbance/bump on the road. Truck sways from side to side. Have had to replace the front axles/joints and the front end alignment. The mechanic stated that something was welded (that shouldn't have been) probably was caused because of the suspension. Every now and again the warning message "service suspension" comes on but not every time it happens. I haven't had the money to have it inspected because I put a lot down on the vehicle and to have the front end repaired. Our insurance wouldn't cover the claim.
Front gas tank frame bracket rusted away and gas tank tilted down on front of tank. 2009 through 2012 models recalled for this identical problem. Dealer tells me my 2014 not covered under recall. I have same problem that was recalled two years before.
