The tailgate recall was supposed to have been fixed, but it didn't work. The tailgate has dropped down at least 4 or 5 times since the supposed recall repair. The last time, it hit the jack on the trailer I was pulling and did quite a bit of damage to the tailgate. I have already submitted this information to Mopar around the 15th and was told I would be contacted within 1 business day, but was not contacted. I have uploaded pictures showing the damage. I have not contacted the insurance company yet.
The tailgate fell open while I was driving December 1, 2021. I had closed the tailgate before pulling onto the roadway. I noticed a thump & stopped to check what had caused the noise. This had happened several weeks before & I thought maybe I had not closed the tailgate properly. This problem was supposed to have been fixed in a previous recall. Why would this happen again?
Front Fuel tank strap ripped out of the frame do to corrosion causing the front of the gas tank to drop almost 6 inches. I live in New York and read that the same issue has occurred on the Ram 1500 from 2009 to 2012
Vehicle is a 2015 Ram 1500 truck with 8-speed transmissions and "dial-a-gear" electronic gear selector. The vehicle was driven to a gas station and pulled up next to a gas pump. Driver exited the vehicle, and realized that they needed to pull forward about 2 more feet to better align the truck with the gas pump. The driver got back into the truck, turned the knob to "drive," and pulled forward. Once the truck was stopped, the driver turned the knob to "park" and exited the truck. As the driver stepped out of the truck it began to move backwards, causing the driver's door to impact the pole protecting the pumps, and over-extending the door and hinges beyond normal operation. …
On 9/21/18 my husband was driving to the store down the interstate and his truck shut off causing him to coast to the shoulder. When he did he noticed some light smoke. He tried to pop the hood but it wouldn't pop so he got out and tried to see if it was caught and saw more smoke he looked underneath to see stuff dripping like melting from the engine compartment, at that time he went to walk around the truck to look for a fire extinguisher when he heard a loud explosion causing him to run back from the truck and call 911. In less than 5 minutes the entire truck was engulfed in flames and in the 25 it took the fire department to arrive the entire truck except the bed and rear tires were completely burnt down. …
On November 05, 2016 at approximately 1230 hours I walked out to my Ram 1500 pick up truck, which was parked in my driveway and started it up. I pulled the truck forward in my driveway approximately a full truck length, put the truck in park and exited the truck, leaving the driver side door open. The truck was left idling. I began to walk to the rear of my truck, where a friend was standing near my flatbed trailer. The plan was to hook the trailer up to the truck. As I was walking to the rear of my truck, I observed the truck rolling backwards. I immediately turned around and began to run back to the truck. As the truck was rolling, the driver side door caught the tire of the vehicle parked next to it. As I jump back in the truck I check the shift indicator and observed it to be in park while rolling. The driver side door was then pushed backwards and into the driver side front fender. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 40 MPH, the front driver side axle and other related components completely detached from the vehicle. The failure caused the vehicle to travel out of the lane independently and side swipe another vehicle. The vehicle continued to accelerate and came to a stop as the front driver side collapsed to the ground. The front driver and passenger side tires were positioned inwardly. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to both knees, but medical attention was not required. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000. The VIN was unavailable. Updated 10/06/15 updated 12/13/2017
Engine caught fire due to EGR system overheating (maybe burning internally) melting then spontaneously catching foam rubber pad above the EGR diffuser tube on fire. Resulted in melting wires, hose and other parts attached to engine. Was quickly put out with a fire extinguisher. Was driving to menards in normal illinois and smelled smoke at first stop light, thought it was van next to me. At next stop light smelled the smoke again and pulled into menards parking lot. Saw lots of smoke coming out from under hood. Raised hood looking for where smoke was coming from. Saw a small flame, went to back of truck and took out fire extinguisher. Went to front of truck and flame had turned to flames, extinguished fire.

The truck was started and moved from one side of the driveway and moved to the other side of the driveway. The truck was turned off after being moved.
