Owner reports

Accident occurred on freeway in spokane,wa. Traffic was stopped in my lane. I was hit in right rear corner after I had come to complete stop. This caused us to be thrown counterclockwise and forward. My wife's seatback gave way, causing her to fall backwards and striking her head on the sliding door window. This shattered the window, fortunately only causing my wife neck and back strain, and not cutting her at all. Upon contacting the manufacturer, we were told the seat mechanism did not break, but bent which is what they said is as designed to prevent neck and back injuries. This is exactly the type of injury my wife sustained. A copy of the letter from the manufacturer is availble.
The front driver seat is leaning back and we can not adjust it back to an upright position. About 4 years ago we had the same problem and found the metal chassis for the seat was defective. I am concerned that if we get into an accident that the seat is basically useless and would not absorb any impact. Is Chrysler doing anything about the defective seats or replacing them.

When vehicle was rearended the driver's seat back reclined at a 70 degree angle. Vehicle was moved about (10) feet in the impact. Consumer was stopped, the vehicle that hit her was traveling around 50 MPH.
Driver's and passenger's side door hinges broke, causing door to hang down. Also, driver seat recliner mechanism broke, causing seatback to fall to the floor. Recliner mechanism broke twice. Chrysler factory representative considers the seats in the car to be trim, and as such, it is not a safety issue.
Driver's seat was leaning more then normal. Taken to an independent repair shop, and informed consumer that problem May be due to metal fatigue. Notified dealer. Dealer informed consumer that it was not covered under a manufacturer's recall. Feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
My husband was injured when we were rear-ended by another vehicle. The height of the seat back is too low to provide protection from whiplash. It bothers me that the seat design remains unchanged in the 2002 models. There should be adjustable head restraints for all passenger seats.
While driving lost control of vehicle, hit an enbankment vehicle rolled, middle bench seat detached from the floor with child in the seat, latch loose. Tt
During rear impact at 10 MPH, the driver's side seatback broke, causing the seat to fall backward into the rear seat.
Driver/passenger seat rest collapsed backwards upon rear end impact; moving slowly, rearended by another vehicle. Tt
