Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2010 Jeep Wrangler owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

My vehicle has experienced a complete failure of the ABS Control Module. A dealer diagnosis confirmed internal module failure. The symptoms are: - All ABS system warning lights illuminated (ABS, traction control, brake, sway bar) - Odometer and speedometer stop working while driving - All brake lights remain on continuously - Vehicle exhibits erratic shifting / rough braking This is a documented safety defect affecting many Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep owners where the dealer confirms the ABS module is defective but cannot repair due to the part being on national backorder with no ETA. I am being told the part is backordered indefinitely. I am left driving an unsafe vehicle with no functioning ABS, stability control, or accurate speed/odometer reading, or parking a vehicle I am still paying for and insuring. I am formally requesting: 1. …

The ABS control module is reporting a DTC code C2200 indicating an ABS module internal failure. The instrument panel warning lights for esp, bas, abs and the traction control are all continuously lit. This problem is continuous but has not been confirmed or inspected by a dealer. independent service center, police or insurance representatives. It is, however, a well known issue reported on Jeep owner forums as an ABS Dashboard Christmas Tree. I have not yet had an ABS related accident but it is extremely concerning that there is an internal ABS module failure that could cause an accident. I have attempted to replace the ABS Module, part 68067458AA, but I am told this part is not available due to a hold for engineering review. I was told the engineering review should be completed by March 20 but until then I am unable to obtain a new replacement part.

When starting the vehicle the check engine light comes on. Including the low tire pressure sensor comes on. The tires have been repaired yet the pressure system still says low. The car when shortly after it's been turned on only going several miles an hour and staying about 2RPMs starts to kick forward in a abrupt motion as if it wants to accelerate. Sometimes it's a hit or miss to start the car so I have to put it in neutral to start it. In conclusion everytime the vehicle starts to move from a complete stop or braking a loud clanking noise repeats a 2-3 times (clank, clank, clank) continues then stops after driving continually, then repeats after every stop that is made. I'm not sure what to make of it but my guess it has to do with the braking system even though no warning lights for brakes have come up.

Most of the dash lights are on scan code U1412. Says traction control not working, ABS not working, speedometer not working, and airbags not working. The Power Control Module (PCM) needs replaced. A known issue with the Jeep Wrangler JKs. No one stocks the parts and used ones are way over priced. How can Jeep not have to replace it or at least stock a replacement part that has the issues resolved?

Code C2116 - ABS Pump Motor Supply low. This error code has been occurring for the past year. I have no ABS brake function, no air bag function, and no traction control function. The part from Jeep Chrysler, ABS Module, has been on back order for 1 year. I believe it is dangerous for me to be driving this vehicle. One year on back order, please do something and help.

ABS Module fails with C2200 code. No replacement parts are available, hence driving with no ABS (manual brakes). Jeep needs to address the nationwide backlog on ATS moudles so proper repairs can be made and Jeep owners have the peace of mind that the ABS is functioning properly.

Airbag, brakes, traction control inoperative with c2200-00 code for internal brake control fault. Vehicle has 58k miles garage kept, now has no safety components working. It is a known problem apparently all over the internet. Why isn't this being addressed.

While the vehicle was driven about 20mph, first on line to a traffic light and on about 20 t0 25 feet before the intersection and light was red, and when the brake was applied it did not stop and the vehicle kept moving and it was stopped by the emergency brake. A burning smell got inside the vehicle and people stopped yelling that the vehicle was on fire. When the hood was opened and the fire put out we notices that the fire started at the brakes pump sensor. It burned all the wiring around there to include plastic cover of left hand side wheel, the steering column rubber joint, sensors, the hood and other parts in that side.

I was driving my Jeep to work when all the sudden white smoke entered the cap. I rolled the window down to vent the smoke and saw flames at my feet. I pulled the Jeep over to the side of the highway just in time for the brakes to fail. After putting the emergency brake on so it would roll into another car I jumped out of the car just in time to see the flames eat the hood of my Jeep and work its way back through my entire vehicle. I watched as the fire department put out the fire over and over and over. Since it had a full tank of gas my Jeep was distroyed. I put $70,000 of parts into my Jeep and it was all eaten by a fire in 20 minutes. I got the oil changed done at the dealership and was never told about a recall. I never recieved any piece of mail notifying me of any recall. I didn't know about the fire issues until I started to research what the problem might have been. …

First, I was driving on the highway and hit the brakes, when the vehicle locked all the brakes completely, the vehicle started skidding almost causing an accident because I lost control of the vehicle. A few weeks later, I was driving up the hill when all the dash lights lighted up, I stopped the vehicle and turned it off but they did not went off . I went to the dealer and they told to replace the ABS module (68067458aa) costing $215.00 plus $160 on labor. They also told me that a few customers are complaining about the same issue. The vehicle is also turning off the headlights at night. Right know the problem is intermittent. The check engine code is b162f, right low beam control. According to the dealer, the TIPM needs to be replaced, it cost around $400. When I looked in the internet, there are several cases of that issue since 2010.it creates a possible hazard driving at night.
