Alright I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara jk. Automatic transmission 2door soft top. And I have noticed on several occasions when there is wet conditions on any curvy road that when slowing down to take a curve to the right with the traction control on the transmission will down shift and cause the back tires to spin and lose traction which inturn sends the [redacted] end sideways. And it does it both up and down hill and pretty much only on right turns the passenger side which puts the driver side rear end into the oncoming traffic lane a little. And I truly believe if it was a young driver or anyone that hasn't drove anything wildly before in there life it could cause a bad accident. But if you turn the traction control off it don't do it is bad if at all. Which makes me think it's wiring or the computer an electrical problem. …
I was driving my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited on state route 23 northbound just outside of milan michigan when I began to notice a sputtering of the engine. I started to slow down to pull over and it stopped. As I accelerated back to speed I could feel it again. I pulled off the interstate onto the cone azail road exit as I slowed down the engine started to run fine again. I entered back onto the highway and as pick up speed it started sputtering I finally pulled over and as I was reaching to open the hood a flame shot out. With in minutes my vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. It happened so fast I was unable to recover anything out of the vehicle safely. When contacting Chrysler regarding this incident they told me to take it up with my insurance company and that they would not cover any damages.
Traveling down road, noticed air bag light staying on, ESP wouldn't work, horn inoperative. Called Jeep dealer and they said to come in for diagnosis as the air bag light indicated a fault in air bag system. Took to dealers and they had to replace clock-spring wiring harness to cure problem. Not in warrenty period and when Chrysler was contacted they would not accept cost as it was not under recall. I therefore had to pay for repair. The dealer said to keep invoice as it May later be a safety recall. It should be as I was told the problem could cause the air bag system to malfunction. Being in the Jeep community I know of thousands of Jeep wranglers having the same problem. Copy of invoice attached.
Issues started with vehicle not able to start and inability to shift out of park. Battery would test good. After disconnecting battery, vehicle would start as usually. Issue began to escalate with oil light and ESP light randomly lighting up on the dash. Finally, electronic throttle control and ESP light would come on while driving and accelerator was unresponsive while driving on highway. I have replaced the throttle body and the entire wiring harness with no resolution. I am now replacing the computer in hopes that it will resolve the issues. I have had the Jeep in for auto service 5 times since January.
Air bag light is on. Horn and cruise also quit working when this occurred. Rear ended a lady last fall and airbag failed to deploy, not sure it should have but still didn't. Can not ever fill the gas tank full due to fuel spilling out of the fill tube onto the ground, can get slightly more that 3/4 full.
Airbag warning light coming on intermittently when turning the steering wheel to the right. Horn working intermittently and cruise control unexpectedly turning off.all issues seem to be happening while moving and turning.
While driving on 1-20 about 60mph, my vehicle suddenly began shaking violently and steering was out of control. I just bought my 2008 Jeep and got the car fax and maintenance report and everything looked good. Im going on my 3rd month owning this used 2008 Jeep & it has happened 4 other times again, and once to my husband. So a total of 6 different times. We have taken it to mechanics so they could tell us what it could be, and I get different answers. They tell me it could be the stabilizing bar needs changing, or need an alignment or check the tire pressure, or I need to change the control arm, or the steering shaft. I don't have this kind of money to be putting into a vehicle that I just bought, and was not cheap and no longer has warranty due to the year expiration. I don't think this is a wear and tear problem. …
My Jeep has the "Jeep death wobble", which is widely discussed on the internet. By googling that term, you can see that it's a very violent shaking of the front end of the vehicle, causing the car to ultimately shake out of control if the vehicle cannot be slowed down very quickly. Unfortunately, it's cause is unclear, though there is a list of a dozen or so "fixes" that sometimes fix the problem for 20,000 miles or so at a time. I had the death wobble at about 15K miles, 35K miles and now again at 65K miles. The dealer acknowledged the problem and was scared when he drove my car to see the problem for himself. It's unsafe for me and my 2-year old daughter in the back. My car needs this repaired again right now, and I assume will need it every 20K miles or so. …
I was driving home from work on a state highway, even though posted speed limit was 65mph, traffic was heavy and I was forced to slow down to around 50 to 53 MPH. When speeding back up to 55 MPH my Jeep sahara shook violently and uncontrollably, I thought my vehicle was going to shake apart, I hit the brakes and went down to 50 MPH (thank god no one was close behind me and did not hit me) and the shaking/wobble stopped. As traffic picked back up and I was able to speed up to 60 MPH, there was no real problem (a slight shake as I past 55 MPH), but as soon as I had to slow down to 55 MPH the vehicle started to shake/wobble uncontrollably again. It appears if I accelerate from 0 to 55 MPH I get the violent shaking/wobbling but if I go from 0 to 60-65 MPH, I do not really experience the violent uncontrollably shaking, just a slight shake at the 55 MPH going to 60-65 MPH. …
In May 2014 I purchases a used Jeep from a dealer in kernersville, nc and experienced issues with the vehicle the dealership claims are manufacture issues: -lighting: we have had to replace the taillight bulbs on both sides twice since purchase (less than a year ago). These lights constantly hold water and we have to empty them repeatedly and the water never seems to empty completely. These lights also seem to be affected by wiring as they do not always illuminate despite an effective bulb. We took it in for repairs under our purchased warranty and the dealership states there is water damage due to insufficient wire protection. This is very concerning as water is an excellent conductor of electricity. Regardless of the used condition of the car I see no reason why this should be the case as wiring seems very much like a manufacture only responsibility. …
