The vehicle experiences severe, recurring electrical and drivetrain failures while operating at highway speeds (up to 70 MPH). On August 8, 2026, while driving on the highway, the vehicle suffered a sudden loss of motive power/drivetrain engagement accompanied by non-stop audible warning chimes, cluster warning light cascades, and an SVC 4WD (Service 4WD) message disabling drive modes. This sudden loss of power on a high-speed highway created an immediate, near-miss collision risk for my family and surrounding traffic. Service & Repair History: The issue has recurred across multiple dates (June 30, July 4, July 10, July 14, and August 8, 2026). The vehicle was held by Castle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Naperville for nearly three weeks (July 14 - August 7). …
On my way to work this morning 4:30 ish the same way I always take. My car decided to drive itself, every light on the middle console lit up, and the dashboard. I was going 50 when my car completely lost control while I tapped my brakes no response its locked, my steering wheel locked up, my brakes locked everything went haywire it would not let me steer or even shift to neutral all I could do was pray it stopped while it flipped off the road around 5:14 am with me still trapped inside. My seat belt wouldn't release my doors wouldn't unlock and my windows wouldn't roll down I was trapped breathing in airbag fumes for an hour until help finally came. They had to cut the windshield open to save me. I have no idea what went wrong but I could've died or have been burned to death my car acted like it went under water and not over it. …
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the "Check Electronic Throttle" message was displayed. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. A dealer was contacted. The contact stated that during the initial failure, the same message was displayed, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a software update was performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,365.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving up an incline at 78 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle continued to accelerate while going downhill. There was no warning light illuminated. There was an abnormal sputtering sound coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle continued to accelerate down a steep hill. While approaching a wide left turn, the contact deactivated the cruise control after an audible high-pitched sound came from the vehicle. After deactivating the cruise control, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and resume normal operation. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I was on the entrance ramp for the freeway and the gas pedal disengaged. I could not accelerate and my car slowed down. A message on the display said to service electronic throttle. This has happened to me twice. My car is barely six months old. I was going 40 mph at the time. Today, I was getting into my car after picking up lunch and as I sat down, the alarm went off for close to 4 minutes. I unlocked and locked the key fob, I started the car and turned it off, and repeated everything about twenty times. I'm in a very public place sitting inside of a car whose alarm won't shut off...anyone could've called the police on me. Someone probably did. The alarm is supposed to shut off at 90 seconds, why didn't it? Why have an alarm that won't disengage? …
[redacted] nearly three minutes after dropping my kids off to school, driving near the [redacted] ! My jeep begin to accelerate, I couldn't control the brakes or steering wheel! I became very scared as I approached a curve upon me reaching the curve, the dashboard and radio screen completely blacked out! I lose complete control of the vehicle, hit and embankment and tree! Cause injuries to my left wrist! I'm still in a splint and have a 5lbs restriction in place, with abrasions to my face as well! Found out from the adjuster yesterday they can't even get the vehicle to start to retrieve any needed information!
Turn on cruise control, press +, hold until the rental car begins to accelerate, and release. Car continues to accelerate. This is not the same as my 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid that accelerates only as long as the button is being depressed. The mileage of the rental vehicle is unknown. I DO NOT wish to receive safety recall alerts from NHTSA because the vehicle is a rental from Enterprise in Lake Park, FL.
