Driver assistance
I purchased a brand new 2025 Jeep Compass Latitude, and shortly after, I started getting repeated error messages for several safety features, lane departure unavailable, blind spot monitoring unavailable, auto high beam unavailable, and automatic emergency braking unavailable. These warnings appear randomly: sometimes as soon as I start driving, other times 5-10 minutes later, or even after 30 minutes to an hour of driving. There's no consistent pattern, and when they activate, all the affected systems stop functioning until I restart the vehicle. I've taken the vehicle to the dealership three times for this issue. The first time, I was told there was nothing they could do because no active code showed at that moment. The second time, they said they couldn't look at it because they had no loaner available. The third time, I left it for nearly two weeks. …
The adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning turns off randomly and the warning lights come on saying they are not working and to take it to the dealership. This has happened around 8 to 10 times. The first being under 1000 miles. I took it to the dealership then and they said nothing was wrong and I need to keep the sensors clean. It makes no difference if the car is just washed or dirty. I'll be driving on a city street or highway and all of a sudden the warning lights are on. Sometimes they go off by themselves. Sometimes after I turn off the car they are on but when restarted they are off. Finally tonight about 5:45 on the highway multiple warning lights went on. Engine, all safety warnings, transmission warning, overheating warning. I pull over and all the transmission fluid began to pour out onto the highway. …
Engine & cooling
The contact rented a 2025 Jeep Compass. While the contact's husband was driving approximately 70 MPH, there was a burning odor and an abnormal sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road, and the contact and her husband observed whitish gray smoke that eventually turned black coming from the engine compartment. The hood was opened and immediately there were flames coming from the engine compartment. The contact and her husband removed personal belongings from the vehicle. During the failure, three sheriffs pulled up behind the burning vehicle. A Police report was filed. The Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
