I bought this vehicle at hawk Chrysler Dodge Jeep 7911 w roosevelt rd, forest park, il 60130 on 04/8/19 . I drove off the lot without a proper explanation/presentation of my vehicle, no one went over the features with me. When I arrived at home, a family member pointed out that the lcd screen qhere the mileage is displayed was not working. At first I thought it May turn on with one of the button on the vehicle because I've never owned a vehicle like this. After 10 -15 minutes of playing around with buttons I couldn't figure it out and called the dealership, the salesperson said to bring it back for an update. On the way back to the dealership I got into a car accident because I was on my way back to the dealer and I did not realize how fast I was going since mileage was not displayed. Now, I have damage on the front driver side of the vehicle less than 24hrs later. …
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed in a heavy rainstorm, the front driver's side floor and rear passenger's side floor became flooded with rainwater, that had entered the vehicle from a failed floor seal. The contact stated that while attempting to depress the brake pedal, her foot had slipped off the pedal several times due to the water inside the vehicle on the floor. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the floor seal had corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 42,000.
Since 2023, my vehicle has had water leakage coming from the back right passenger side from the seat belt opening and right side of the back trunk. This is a major concern because my son's car seat is seated on the right back seat where the water leakage is coming from. I don't want any mold to grow under his car seat or on his car seat. Also I gave jumper cables in the back of my trunk for safety. What if they were to get soak and wet then they are not able to work. Also I put my groceries in the trunk of my car. I don't want them to get spoiled or become contaminated.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle was swinging from side to side, almost striking the side rails. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the front passenger's side control arms and bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the rear of the vehicle experienced a similar failure. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact felt warm water dripping onto her leg. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the air condition pipe was clogged causing the antifreeze to back up and leak. The pipe was unclogged. The manufacturer was contacted and stated there was no recalls on the VIN regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.
First noticed condensation on the inside of the windshield and dealership alledgedly unclogged sunroof drains. Then noticed ice formed on the inside of the windshield and passenger floor-board carpet damp specifically by door jam seal. While driving water pooled and leaked through front dome light. Having water fall through the ceiling via the light while driving through an intersection presents a safety issue because of distraction, visibility and potential electrical issues due to water damage. The Vehicle is currently back at the dealership and they are trying to recreate the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages other than the condensation, ice on the inside of the windshield.
Prior to the failure of the rear drive axles there were 2 instances of the 4WD lamps coming on. Reset the lever and light went out.Another instance had the ABS light come on.After several miles the light went off. The next morning while driving to the independent repair shop the car completely stopped on a Blvd in the middle of traffic.Luckily I was not rear ended by another vehicle. The car needed to be towed to the shop. Upon inspection by the tech was the rear drive axles had become corroded and needed to be replaced. As well as the backing plates. The vehicle is 8 years old and has 62,000 miles.
Rear frame is rusted to the point that it is unsafe to drive as per Monroeville, PA Chrysler/ Jeep. I included some images and the cost of repair from the dealership. I am having the repairs done at this dealership. Please extend the warranty to Jeep Compasses. Mine is a 2015 and it is unsafe to drive and is costing me more money to replace tires.
