What owners report
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle intermittently stalled. While idling or utilizing cruise control, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 70 after releasing the brake pedal. While entering the garage with her foot hovering over the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward and crashed through the wall into the TV room. The brake light was flashing. There were no reported injuries, airbag deployments, fire or police report filed. The gas pipe was bent into the wall, but she was able to turn off the gas line. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who reset the computer and replaced the battery. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,090.
Problem Summary: While using the vehicle's Traffic Assist / Adaptive Cruise Control (system that controls acceleration and braking in traffic), the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated toward a vehicle directly ahead as if no lead vehicle was present. This created an imminent rear-end collision risk. The issue occurred twice in the same drive. Incident Details: On 18 dec 2025 at about 5-15MPH/ "stop-and-go traffic"], I was driving with Traffic Assist / Adaptive Cruise Control enabled, which normally manages throttle and braking in traffic. I was following a semi tractor (no trailer attached). The semi was approximately 15-20 feet in front of me. While the system was engaged and operating normally moments before, the vehicle accelerated forward as if the lane was clear, despite the semi being directly ahead. I had to apply the brakes manually to prevent a collision. …
Vehicle was taken to Honda of Round Rock for the Integrated Control Module (ICM) Recall (NHTSA Recall 25V785). The dealership performed partial service but stated a 'gateway' part is on backorder. Since this service, the vehicle has been returned to us with a non-functional speedometer, non-functional speed sensor, no A/C/defrost, and multiple disabled safety sensors. Driving without a speedometer is a severe safety hazard. The manufacturer has provided no timeline for the part and refused a loaner, leaving us with an un-roadworthy vehicle as a direct result of a recall repair attempt.
While driving the vehicle, usually while passing another vehicle, it slams on the brakes suddenly and decelerates rapidly. I suspect it has something to do with how it reads it's surroundings. When it happens, which is without warning, the BRAKE light comes on the dash. It has happened multiple times but recently it was a close call with another vehicle behind me on the interstate. Which is why I'm taking the time to report this. I have not had it inspected.
The contact leased a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in a parking garage, the vehicle struck the curb and independently accelerated. The contact was unable to control the vehicle. The contact attempted to shift gear, but the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle then came to a stop, avoiding a crash. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to his residence. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called an unknown local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop. The failure mileage was approximately 1,700. The VIN was not available.
The Collision Mitigation Braking System is overly sensitive, aggressive, unpredictable and sometimes erratic causing extremely dangerous situations including almost causing traffic accidents due to unwarranted locking up of brakes sometimes on the freeway at very dangerous highway speeds. I've had about 5 scenarios where the system has terrified me by applying heavy stopping power in a dangerous and unexpected manner in situations where I would never apply the brakes! One of the occasions was on a 35mph roadway that had a small dip hardly anything, with no cars, pedestrians in front of me SLAMMED the brakes aggressively for 0 reason and with nothing in front of the car but a slight dip in the road. …
Car moving slowly and suddenly races and speeds UP. Hard to STOP it. Has happened twice, 8 to 10 Months apart.. First time was on a small driveway. Was able to STOP CAR , with no damages. 2nd occurrence i was pulling into a parking Space. Foot not on gas or brake and again the CAR accelerated. This Time the CAR hit a handicapped parking sign and pushed it over. The sign stopped the CAR with Assistance from me. There was a small drop in front of the CAR and a tree 10-15 Feet in front of the Hill. The passenger in my CAR would have been in severe trouble had I not gotten the CAR stopped. My husband thought i may have somehow activated the cruise control. But i was going less than 20 miles per hour each time. This could be a deadly problem if a Child or Someone Crossed in front of me.
