Car occasionally experiences unintended acceleration. This happening today 9/4/2022. Car was brought to a complete stop. It suddenly accelerated while the foot was still on the brake, causing it to rear-end the car in front. Thankfully there no physical injuries reported (yet) We had experienced this a couple of time before. I had contact Honda as well as the local dealer and they cleared the car with no changes.
My 2014 Honda has been have 2 major issues over the life of the vehicle. 1. VTC Actuator - prior to the oil indicator light coming on and the time to change the oil, my car screams out a loud consistent noise. I have reported this concern to Team Honda in Baton Rouge on numerous occasions. The most recent repost was on [redacted]. I am concerned my engine will fail or explode. 2. Tires Light Indicator (See Pictures) My tires were check on [redacted] and I spent almost $300 on a new tire. The same light which were on on that day came back on. All 4 of my tires were checked out and 3 out of 4 of them were in good condition. This has also been an ongoing issue. The tire light random come on, then the other 5 (all related) flashed an the dashboard. My first time experiencing this was less than a month after getting my vehicle but the tires was still covered under warranty at that time. …
In the dashboard, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), ABS (Anti Lock Brake system), and BRAKE lights would turn on and off Intermittently. The lights could turn on starting the car in the morning or after driven for some time, for short period of time - 15 minutes to long period of time - 60 minutes. When these lights are on initially, a clank could be typically heard. When driven and slowed to around 10 MPH, the high-to-low whine could be heard. At low speeds, the car jerks on deaccelearation and acceleration. The car may be difficult to drive smoothly at low speeds. OBDII reader found no fault codes. Reports of other cars with simillar problem indicate issue with ABS module, wheel speed sensor, and/or battery.
I took my 2014 Honda Accord Ex in for repairs on September 4, 2023 and the Honda dealership informed me that after replacing the battery that the it that the VSA Modulator on the car has gone bad which has been a common problem with this year Honda Accord and others from 2013 all the way to the 2017. And this part has been on back order for months. This a shame.
The EPS system has an issue that caused my car to stop on the highway. I was able to move to the side of the road but the car was jerking back and forth. The engine light and tire pressure sensor also infighter.
A strange thing occurred while I was dropping my grandchildren to school on 3/30/22 at 8:45 AM. After dropping off the kids, as I started the car in the car drop off lane, there was no acceleration despite me hitting the accelerator, the car would not accelerate, and cars exiting the school parking lot backed up behind my car. Suddenly, the car accelerated in an uncontrolled manner on its own, brakes did not work, and all warning lights on the side of the dashboard came on. I steered the car towards an empty area and was ready to crash it into an obstacle to bring it to a stop. I tried to put the car in park but despite putting it in park, the car continued its acceleration forward. I also tried to turn off the car by hitting the start/stop button but the car would not turn off. The car accelerated uncontrollably for at least 0.3 miles. …
I was pulling in to a parking spot at 2 MPH or less, and when I put my foot on the brake to stop, the engine surged and the car lurched forward out of my control, across the concrete barrier, over a walkway and into the wall of a restaurant, where it stalled. I had to restart the car to reverse it away from the crash. Fortunately no-one was hurt although there was considerable damage to the front of the car and the wall of the restaurant. This also happened in March 2014. I was pulling into a parking spot when the engine roared, the car lurched forward, and I crashed across a path and through a wooden fence. The damage then was $10K. …
When pulling into my parking space at my condo the car suddenly accelerated and went over the parking space cement marker, over the shrubs and onto sidewalk. I was finally able to apply the brakes hard enough to stop the car before crashing into the building. I just nicked the edge of the cement doorway leading into the walkway to my condo but it was enough to cause the hood to buckle. There was some damage to the undercarriage of the car and the total cost of repair was $5500.00. Ma 10/14 updated 11/30/2017
As I made a right turn to the parking spot with my right foot on the pedal I slowed down to 2-3 MPH with foot still on the brake. At about 1-2 feet from the concrete retaining wall limiting the parking spot I pressed on the brake for the final stop. Car accelerated wildly and hit the concrete retaining wall ahead. My foot had never left the brake. Air bags did not inflate. The vehicle was in motion 2-3 MPH, on a parking lot. Acceleration happened when I was breaking.
I was slowly making a left turn into and pulling into a front end in parking space with my foot on the brake, the car as already going straight into the parking space when the car suddenly accelerated, could not be slowed down or stopped by the brake, jumped the curb, and crashed into the building. Air bag did not deploy.
