What owners report

Car has 4800 miles. I've owned since new (5 months). No issues prior to this. Stopped a stoplight. The gas engine stopped running, which is typical for a hybrid when not moving. After 15 seconds, every warning/error message started cycling on the driver's dashboard screen, referencing "brake system malfunction" among many other failures. Pressing the gas pedal and there was no forward movement. Brakes still worked. Put in park. Pressed "Start" to shut down car. It didn't fully shut down (dash still lit up). Pressed Start again, still many errors but car would move. Drove immediately home. After 2 hours, pressed Start again and no errors. After 2 days of no driving, got appointment with local Honda Dealer Service. Drove it carefully and had no issues. After two additional days of evaluation, Honda says it's the ignition control module (part# 5k80030BA06). …

On June 9, 2024, while I was driving on the highway, my new Accord flashed a series of warning messages on the right side of the driver information interface (instrument panel). The messages that flashed and scrolled through repeatedly are listed below: Electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. See your dealer. Blind spot information system problem. See your dealer. Hill start assist problem. Vehicle may roll upon brake release. See your dealer. Transmission system problem. Performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Emission system problem. Power may be reduced. See your dealer. Additionally, near the fuel gauge a red BRAKE light flashed and an amber BRAKE SYSTEM stayed illuminated. This vehicle when driving at normal speeds tends to make a high accelerating notices, it makes a person feel as if some other vehicle was passing on the left side at a very high speed. The first time I heard this noise, I moved to the right side of the road, thinking that a speeding driver was passing me. Since then, the vehicle continues to make this accelerating noise, six to seven times on a average of a thirty mile trip. I feet that this is not normal for a vehicle that is less than a year old. The vehicle makes this noise when in motion from 20-50 miles per hour, and might also make it at higher speeds. It never makes it while sitting in place idling.

After driving less than 1 mile on level ground, engine slowed and would not accelerate above 20 mph. After another mile or so, increasing uphill grade caused speed to slow to 12-14 mph. Stepping on gas caused car to slow down even more, with shaking and jerky stop-start of vehicle. Maintaining 10-12 mph permitted vehicle to continue uphill climb for a few more miles so I could reach home. Downhill coasting was smooth with no gas pedal acceleration.
