What owners report
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 MPH, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. The contact stated that the front driver's side heated seat had burned a two-inch hole into the seat, the upper back rest, and heating pad. The contact also noticed that the heated seat was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no blown fuses. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, a service date was not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact repaired the seat himself. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
2019 Ford Ranger purchased, noticed slight pulsation when stopping highway or city. Continued to get worse to a point where I became afraid to drive it because twice on heavy braking pulsation was sever and I was afraid was not going to stop. Situation was worse more truck was driven. Notified service advisor of issue and that I had been really careful but then I notified him again and advised I was fearful of driving vehicle especially on wet road. Took picture of left rear rotor thru wheel holes and found black spots in rotor. Took truck in on March 19th, service advisor called and said the mechanic was going to have all four rotors turned. I told him that was unacceptable, the rotors and brakes need to be replaced. The situation was escalated to Ford motor company, today March 26th the service advisor called and left message they were replacing rear rotors. …
I recently purchased a 2004 Ford Ranger edge, regular cab. I am 5'10", and sit with my seat as far back as it will go in the truck. This, unfortunately caused my rear window to pop out of the truck. I took the truck back to the dealer, where they said that's a common problem with the make and year of my truck, and all Ford is doing is reinforcing the windows. The windows are not a problem, it is the seat. The seat was not designed correctly for the truck, but Ford is not willing to redesign the seats, recall the trucks, or upgrade trucks to extended cabs. This poses a problem because even after the window is fixed, the problem is going to happen again. And "god forbid" I ever get into a rear-end collision - what happens to my window, me, my seat, etc?! This problem ends up being more serious than Ford is willing to take responsibility for, and I strongly feel this should be reported. …
I just bought a 2004 Ford Ranger regular cab in aug 2004. About 2 weeks ago after a heavy rain the whole inside of my vehicle was wet. It was wet from both the driver and the passenger head rests to the floor. It took a little over a week for the vehicle to dry out. I took it to the Ford dealer that I bought it from and they told me that I had a defective window. They did not even have to look at the truck to tell me what the problem was. They had to order a new back window for me. The assistant service manager told me that the problem the seat back pushes out the back window and water can get inside. I am 6'4" and I have to have the seat all the way back to drive. When they replaced the window I talk to the auto glass company that they sub the work out to. He told me that this was a very common problem in the Ranger regular cabs. …
My driver side seat recliner feel backward during a quick stop. The recliner pin appears to have broken. In order to drive the vehicle I must prop up the seatback with a box so the seat will not fall backward, which would make the vehicle unsafe to drive.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle slid on black ice and rolled down a hill. The driver seat back pushed forward trapping the driver, and caused minor injuries. A police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard and later deemed totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was not contacted.
While driving, drivers seat back recliner bolts failed causing seat to fall back until stopped by rear wall of vehicle. Since this was a super cab xlt, the fall backwards was significant causing temporary loss of vehicle control. Upon inspection found that one of the two bolts had failed quite awhile ago since the head showed signs of rust.
Sat down in truck, seat broke away and I fell backward, noted 2 broken bolts in floor, one left side one right side, both bolts appear to have freshly broken. Removed seat to see the bolts were from the recliner assembly, removed the threaded part from the frame, the threads appeared to be approximately 1/4 inch, ordered bolts from Ford and replaced the bolts Ford part number f87z-1060108-bb, price approximately $40.00, upon picking up bolts advised no charge. I have mild back strain from the initial fall backward. Please note: I am not concerned about my incident, my concern is if I had been driving what would have happened, and the number of vehicles which have the exact seat and possible defective bolts, it appears to be a design flaw, such small bolts, I will gladly forward the bolts removed upon request
