What owners report
The contact owned a 2014 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving and pulling a trailer, the fuel line detached. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a truck stop. A mobile mechanic determined that the fuel line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving at 75 MPH, the fuel line busted again and was repaired again by the same mobile mechanic. While driving at 75 MPH, the driver noticed fire emerging from the floorboard. The driver sustained third-degree burn injuries to his leg, and medical attention was provided. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000. The VIN was not available.
The fuel injection system is the same as Dodge and Chevrolet. I own a 2014 F350 with a 6.7 Diesel. My truck has been broken down for 6 months, after catastrophic failure in the road due to CP4 fuel injection pump. I continue to look for recalls only to find Dodge and Chevrolet who use same injection pump.
My 2013 F-350 Super Duty 6.7 Diesel truck has a problem with the DEF system and power loss. I had a check engine light come on, and an AutoZone scan shows a P20BA Power Train System and a few other codes were noted (see attached documents). I took it to my selling dealer, and they confirmed the Reductant Heater needs to be replaced. I found out there is a recall for this defective part on just about every Ford F-Series 6.7 Diesel "except" my specific year and model. The recall on all of the other F-Series trucks have the same defective part as my truck has. Why is Ford getting away with this. If the part installed in my truck is the same defective part that is being replaced on all of the other trucks, why is my truck not included in the recall, it is the same defective part. It is costing me over $1,700.00 to replace a known to Ford and NTSB, a defective part. …
Engine fire - while traveling at 55mph and towing a fifth wheel trailer on the interstate, the vehicle indicated "low fuel pressure" on the dash panel. A fire erupted in the engine compartment sending smoke into the passenger compartment. After stopping, the fire spread to the remainder of the truck and then caught the fifth wheel trailer on fire. Both the truck and the fifth wheel trailer were destroyed in the fire. I believe that a diesel fuel leak caused the fire and resulting damage. Because this fire occurred while the vehicle was in motion, it LED to a very dangerous situation and should be investigated.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and the vehicle was smoking. Additionally, the contact noticed a clinging sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that an 18-wheeler that was driving behind the vehicle, almost crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The contact was able to get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road safely and exited the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle was engulfed with heavy smoke, but a fire was not present. The contact was concerned for her safety. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel system. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
Summary: We purchased a brand new 60000 dollar truck in 2012 or 2013 and was assured by the dealer that it had a warranty to cover any issues until either 100,000 miles or 5-6 years, whichever came first. After 4 years of ownership and around 67,000 miles, the truck started experiencing problems with a high idle and then abruptly shutting off. When taken to the dealer, they couldn't replicate the issues during a brief evaluation. However, a week later, while on the way to the bank, to get cash out for are stay at the hospital to give birth to are 6th child the truck shut off and wouldn't start again. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty high-pressure fuel pump due to water in the fuel and tried to charge the author $15,000 for repairs. …

The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that an independent mechanic arrived at the residence however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power and stalled. During the failure, diesel fuel and oil spilled from the engine. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the strap that secured the fuel injectors had failed, causing the fuel injectors to eject from the engine. The contact was advised that the fuel injector straps, fuel injectors, and several fuel hoses needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 40,000.
