I was t-boned in the intersection of [redacted] and [redacted] in Washington, Utah on [redacted]. The airbags did not deploy in my vehicle. I was not injured or receive medical care. However, its a safety violation somewhere I'm sure.
2012 Ford Edge -The passenger door will shut but the alarm that came with the car says that the door is not shut. The alarm will not work when the car detects the door is not shut, so the interior lights will not turn off. Will this affect my battery? When I drive with the sensor on the dashboard states the door is not closed and the interior light will not shut off which becomes a distraction at night. When driving the car, the locks will not work because the dashboard senses the door is not closed. This is a family car with a child still in a car seat. Anyone can jump in my car? There a lot of blogs I found with the same situation, so Ford must know that the problem exists. The door has not been damaged. This is not part of wear and tear because a door is something that need to open and close. …
I believe the sunroof package to be defective as well as the electric system that is connected to the systems. I have brought the issue up with the dealership and they did not perform a proper diagnostic on the part to report any issues. I believe this is a safety issue as the windows and back gate open without prompt. I don't use the sunroof because it hasn't opened since a short time after my purchase. When the sunroof opened I tried to close it and the element that closes it popped above my head and threw the panoramic glass off the track. I took the vehicle in to point of purchase and they did not perform a proper diagnostic on it to tell me whether it was safe to close or not. So if this could be resolved I would appreciate it. When I went online to trouble shoot a solution or cause I found similar cases of issue with the panoramic sunroof components. Thank you.
While driving home from work last week, the drivers door ajar alarm sounded, the interior lights came on and the door locks disengaged. I pulled into a parking lot to re-close the door; which silenced the alarm; but the interior lights stayed on. As I pulled out and got back up to the speed the locks would normally engage, the drivers door alarm sounded again, interior lights remained on and locks never engaged, even when pressing the lock button. Pulled over a 2nd time - with the same result. The third time I pulled off the road, I shut the vehicle off and sat for about 5 minutes. Again, the same plus the shift into park alarm also sounded as soon as I reached speed when the locks should engage. I continued home listening to 2 alarms blare, the interior lights limiting my view and the doors refusing to lock. …
I pulled out of my driveway and at 9 MPH my doors automatically lock. They all locked with the exception of my rear driver door. The door ajar light was still lit on my instrument panel. I opened the door and reclosed it several times. A few harder and a few lighter slams and it never went off. The light stays lit for a few days to a few hours and comes and goes off as it pleases. I have even refrained from using that door and it will still go off and light up when it wants. I have found several posts on the internet of this same issue with other Ford vehicles: f150, Edge, ranger and escape newer year models from 2007 to current. If the doors do not lock this puts the person or persons in the vehicle at risk. It is a safety hazard. This May also affect the proper activation of the alarm which is also a safety hazard. …
Driver: 83 year old woman... New auto: Ford Edge 2012, no injuries, vehicle damage approx $2000.00 no property damage..... Problem: lady stepped on accelerator rather than brake.... Reason: the brake pedal at rest is higher than the accelerator pedal at rest. The driver is used to an older (Chrysler 2009) vehicle which there was not an appreciable difference in pedal height, stepped on the accelerator pedal, thinking she was stepping on the brake.... Resolution: discussing the incident, the woman was seated in the Ford Edge and asked to see if she felt a difference in height of the brake vs accelerator pedals. She did, and has since practiced going between pedals, lifting her foot to access the brake, rather than merely sliding her foot to the left........ …
In April 2016, we started experiencing an issue with the drivers door latch not connecting and our drivers door ajar light staying on. We would manually have to reopen the latch to close the door but this still didn't always make this door ajar light do out. There were times we would have to close the door up to 5 times to get the light to go out and feel that the door was closed. It was worse on a trip at the end of April to florida in which we were unable to get this to happen and couldn't get our interior lights to go out since it was telling us the door was still open. This issue would happen while parked or driving. The light would be out when leaving the driveway and then come on while on the road! We had this checked three times, first two unsuccessful and the third we were told it was a broken door latch and wasn't covered so we had it repaired at the cost of $329.85! …
My vehicle exhibits illuminated dome lights and door ajar messages when doors are fully closed. I get error messages intermittently while driving of door ajar notification and the interior lights will come on unexpectedly while driving. The interior dome lights also stay illuminated even when I have turned the car off and locked the doors, draining battery. I have received notification of Ford's voluntary extension of door latch warranty through July 2020. This is a known defect. My car began exhibiting the defect in November 2020. It is a safety issue as I am alarmed and cannot see when driving at night and the interior lights suddenly pop on. I also fear my child will open the door while driving as the "lock" feature is unreliable due to the defect. …
My 2012 Ford Edge continues to alert as I am driving that my driver side door is ajar when in reality it is not. I have video of this because it distracts me as I am driving due to the red alert posted on the panel along with the high pitch beep/alarm as the warning. I than have to continually hit the reset button with my left thumb in order to silence the warning until it starts all over again within seconds. While researching this problem, it seems that it is very common within these Ford vehicles. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be addressed as a recall. This has been a problem with my vehicle for many months now. One stage observation is that the aforementioned malfunction becomes occurs much more often once the temperature outside exceeds 65 degrees or higher for some reason. Thank you [redacted]
