What owners report

Backup camera has been recalled several months ago but no remedy has been made yet. I've also noticed when I turn on the wipers my screens including the dash and entertainment go dark and barely visible.

I purchased my 2019 dodge journey in 2022 and about two months maybe after purchasing it, my backup camera went out. At first, it came in and out- only working occasionally. But then it completely stopped and hasn't worked since. There's a line through the image where the camera use to show up in the mirror. I understand some 2019 dodge journeys has recalls for this, but not my VIN. So I wanted to report that this one also has the same issue.

Horn and all dasbboard controls quit working on my steering wheel. Rear wiper comes on by itself when the vehicle is put in reverse but the toggle no longer works to activate the rear wiper. The washer fluid will work with the toggle switch, but the wiper still does not come on. Reverse lights quit working.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the back over prevention camera was foggy or the image was displayed upside down. An independent mechanic was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the back over prevention camera wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V396000 (VISIBILITY); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Rear backup camera is severely blurred as to make it impossible to safely see any Cleaning of the lens made no change in the severity of the image. The Carmax dealership in Brooklyn park MN was aware of the issue and notified of the malfunction after a test drive. Their answer was that it was a known issue but there was no effort to fix the problem because it was not listed as a recall issue. There was no warning light or electronic notices, only noticing the issue on the dash screen when the "reverse" was engaged. It is unable in its current condition to provide an adequate level of safety when backing up. The colored lines indicating the vehicles part while backing up is clear but all surrounding objects are blurry.

Initially, the component that was failing was the rear wiper blade. The wiper blade would not perform a proper rotation. It wouldn't move at all when I would turn the switch, but anytime the car was unlocked or locked. The door was open or closed the blade would move. A few days later, one reverse light was out. The rear wiper doesn't really pose any risks but with my reverse lights, failing and any other lights in the rear could be a safety issue. My partner being an elevator mechanic knows electrical like the back of his hand., so he did the process of elimination, realized that it was the wiring at the back hatch. The wiring is shot brittle breaking burning.. which could possibly start a car fire which would put me my child. My boyfriend in danger.. the problem has not been confirmed by a dealer have not taken it to an independent service center. …

Throttle system gave out in 2018. Had the system replaced. Throttle light is still coming on and will lose pressure. And the rear back windshield wiper will not go all the way down. And heating/cooling system is not working properly in the front part of the SUV. Or in the back

2017 Journey · Nov 2023

Sometimes when I turn my car on the front screen won't turn on it will stay black, when I go to back up my rear view camera won't work, sometimes my two front windows won't roll down, my defroster won't turn on in the front, my blowers used to work where I was able to switch them to defrost, just face, or feet but it's just stuck on one setting and my passenger side blows hot air when the AC is on. In winter it's hard to see out my front window even when I let the car warm up, it will fog up while I'm driving and it causes me not to see and could potentially cause a major accident, also in the summertime when I need the AC for my children and it's not working properly can effect them as well, my car definitely should be on the recall list for several things that have been recalled, I feel unsafe to drive it especially with my babies in the car. It's my only transportation for anything! …
