My daughter brought a 2011 Chevy Aveo in wisconsin. When she came back home there were several occasions that I used her car. The first time I drove her car I drove it to work. While I was driving at 55 MPH the car jerked very hard to the left. I had to really hold the steering wheel harder than usual to gain control of the car. I called my daughter and asked her about the car jerking towards incoming traffic. My daughter stated that the car did jerk sometimes. I told my daughter to go get the car checked out. I told her to have them check the jerking out and why the car was wearing out tires so fast. My daughter had the car checked and she was told her car couldn't be aligned. My mom, my other daughter, her father, step father and myself drove the car at different times and it jerked while each of us drove it. …
I have been trying to get this issue resolved for about a year to no avail. My 2011 Chevy Aveo 1.4l has a very bad vibration at idle that can be felt on the whole front end and through to the steering column. I have motor mounts replaced (they had broken), replaced spark plugs, and motor and transmission shifted to sit better. Unfortunately, none of this has rectified the issue. I have been speaking with Chevy's customer service department that has proven useless and dealerships stating that this is just what the car does. I'm concerned that since this vibration can break motor mounts it can obviously cause damage elsewhere. I now have a burning smell that can't seem to be located and none at Chevy seems to be concerned.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and the a-arm connecting the steering to the tires underneath the vehicle collapsed. The contact pulled over, waited for a few minutes, and then slowly drove the vehicle back to the residence. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact reached out to lbsi automotive llc (109 pittsburgh rd, uniontown, pa 15401, [phone]) but got no response. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 143,943.
While traveling down the interstate at 55 MPH car shut down loss all power no steering no brakes no lights, and it was nighttime, coasted to the side of road, car would not start back up for a good 15 minutes. Had car to dealer 6/24 13 and once before that, dealer said (could not duplicate customer concern ).
Driving home from work, stopped at a store in a parking lot, car ignition would not turn off, could not get car keys out of ignition. Drove to a dealership, who said the ignition needed to be replaced because it was shifting. Said it would cost 4 to 5 hundred dollars, did not have it fixed. But since then, it has been difficult at times to get the car to turn on, or if turned off, hard to get keys out. A valet could not get it to turn off and when he finally did, could not get the keys out,so he left them in my car. I think this has something to do with the GM faulty ignition switches.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated while driving at 35 MPH the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the vehicle veered to the right and went into an embankment. The contact also stated that three of the tires became detached from the wheels and the air bag did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck, forehead, and back and the contact was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The police was at the scene and filed a report. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000 updated 9/11/14 updated 1/20/2015
The key comes out of the ignition even while the car is running and driving. I drove the car and thought I turned it off all the way - turns out there was another 'click' to turn the engine completely off. Engine also clicks after being turned off. Headlights went out, replaced bulbs only to realize the connectors were melted, bulbs being blown are not the cause of this issue. After doing research into the problem I came across recalls for this year, make model I came across a recall from 2014 (documents on this site) that said all 2008 Chevy Aveo's were affected. I purchased the car from a used car dealership in May, 2014 - I don't believe this car should have been sold given the issues and recall notices out at the time. I only found out this week (sept 2016) about the issues. …
In March the vehicle shut completely down and the fan belt popped and wrap around the motor and had damaged the timer belt. Two months later the vehicle was driven to the post office and when cranking it up to leave it wouldn't start because it had shut down again. September 27, 2013 the vehicle shut down the steering wheel locked up and couldn't be guided and ran into a fire hydrant.
