ON jUNE 3, 2021 I experienced a drastic loss in power and all warning light illuminated on the dash , was able to get of the highway to a safe area and vehicle ceased to function . This happened after the fuel pump recall was performed at Ed Morse Toyota in Delray Beach around February. It had been functioning perfectly up until this massive failure. When tow truck operator arrived and tried to start, is caught fire and was severely damaged.
Car was recalled for fuel pump and I repaired in 8/2020 with approximately 11,190 miles. I had complained that car, since time of purchase and had 4662 miles when I insisted Toyota fix this, (hunted for gears, hesitated, lagged when accelerator pushed, and had poorer gas mileage than expected). The car now has 34,875 miles on it and is doing the same thing, hesitating, lunging between gears. Our mechanic confirmed this and stated worse when using a.c. Called Toyota Customer Service and they said the car was out of warranty for the pump repair, but perhaps not the power train, transmission, etc. Have not gotten back to me yet, but has not been one working day after spending 2.5 hours on the phone with them yesterday. This is a safety issue, I press on the gas to make a turn and it lags leaving me in traffic. …

Hi, I'd like to report a serious issue with my 2018 Toyota Sienna related to the recent fuel system recall. Since the repair, the vehicle has leaked all of its gasoline not once, but three separate times. One of those times, my family was inside the vehicle, and the smell of gas was overwhelming. The car wouldn't start, and it was clearly an unsafe situation. Now the dealership is charging me $1,400 to replace the fuel pressure hose and clamp, which, after thorough research and review, appears to be directly related to the process they followed when replacing the recalled fuel pump. I've also tried contacting the service manager, but I haven't received a call back. That's why I'm now requesting that Toyota open a formal case to investigate this properly. I believe this repair should be covered, and I'm asking for support from Toyota directly.
Car stalled, sputtered and died. At first, I thought I was out of gas. After several tries, the car started and went 3 miles to gas station. After getting gas, the car wouldn't start several times and that same day the check engine light came on. We took it to Autozone to check the code and they said it was showing fuel pump failure. Today I'm taking it in to the dealer for service. It has started and run twice since the initial episode.
The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, after coming to a complete stop and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who discovered that the plastic fuel lines were damaged due to the expanded anti corrosion coating applied to the fuel lines during manufacturing of the vehicle. The contact was advised to replace both the metal fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine bay and the damaged plastic fuel lines. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 84,416.
