Had the vehicle progressively speed up at a high rate of speed was not due to the floor mats as that had been fixed along time ago on a recall before . I had to throw the car in neutral and then push the brake and power button for the vehicle to slow down safely ( happened twice ) . Both times not back to back on occasions months in between . Then one day had issues with the brakes and the vehicle not wanting to stop had the issue looked at by certified mechanic said my physical brakes on all sides front and back were visible sound and nothing to be causing the issue I was having . …

I was driving into my garage and had just brake to let it ease in. My foot was still on the brake, when the car suddenly revved and lunged forward. The brake would not work, and it was as if the car had a mind of its own. It hit the crate that was in front of the wall, and forced a bike rack through the wall. The front bumper of my car was cracked in places. The car then stopped. So scary! I immediately called my dealership and was told they could not talk to me. I needed to call the corporation, which I did. After two months of waiting on a decision, I was told there is nothing wrong with my car, and that's that. I have since learned that there have been other incidents with toyotas just like mine. I am petrified to drive the car, and yet I am also afraid to pass it on to someone else. I don't want anyone hurt. …

I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry in September 2006. The vehicle has 16,000+ miles on it. The vehicle hesitates upon acceleration , and at times lunches into gear . This has caused honkning at us and harzardous conditions, especially when changing lanes on the freeway. There is a loud intermitent clunk when turning corners, backing up, and stopping. There is an apparent lack of power when the gears shifts in the automatic transmission. Also, there is vibration when backing up with the air conditioner on. We have had the vehicle in the dealership several times and mostly get a song and dance routine from the dealership. They said that everything we were experiencing was normal or due to the computer design or emission standards. This is very difficult to accept since I have been driving for 50 years and have never encountered anything like this before. …
My wife and I purchased a 2007 Camry le, 4-cylinder, 5-speed from Toyota of orange in orange california. Ever since our test drive we've experienced lack of acceleration (hesitation) from a stop or after slowing down to turn or proceed, shifting problems (constant up and down shifting at certain speeds; car not sure which gear to be in and feels like the car is surging) and unable to use the cruise control due accelerating too quickly due to downshifting and then overshooting the set speed. Some of these symptoms are sporadic; you never know if the car is going to move or not when stepping down hard and quickly on the gas pedal. Sometimes it "red-lines" before accelerating, other times there is barely any response at all. Reported it to the dealer 3 times, had the software updated without noticeable improvements. Eg036-07 is the latest ECM update,. …
I was driving home from work, and as I was coming to a stop I heard a warning ding, looked down, and my dashboard read "low engine oil pressure." I found that warning odd considering I have only put 2,000 miles on my car since my last oil change, I have not noticed any oil leaks in my parking spot or under my car, and I had my transmission serviced four weeks ago and there was no mention of any leaks by the service technician. I pull into the walmart parking lot close by, check my oil, and oil levels are not registering on my dipstick. I quickly bought 2 quarts of the manufacturers recommended weight of oil, put them in, and went directly to my service station. The service station took me in immediately, completed their inspection, and they informed me that they cannot find any leaks anywhere. In addition, there are no bad smells, no smoke, no signs of oil burning, nothing. …
I'm returning home from work and driving on a freeway with 60mph limit. I remember driving at 45mph and maintained a very good distance from the vehicle in front of me. The vehicle in front of me tried to slowed down and that prompted me to apply the brakes. All of a sudden brakes failed and couldn't control the car to stop. The car just skidded and hit the van with big force. Luckily the vehicle in front of me is a shuttle and no passengers injured. Engine and front part damaged very bad and I myself hit my face to the steering wheel. I cut my lip and hit on my nose very bad. I still recovering from injuries. Though the crash is so bad, air bags didn't deploy and resulted injuries on me. The police and others who tried to help me wondered why the air bags didn't deploy. All these days I'm trying to recover from the injuries and couldn't send this complaint over. …
In 2007 we leased a new Camry along with another new Toyota product on the same day. My wife has had the accelerator stick on her and she had to use the emergency brake to stop the car and ran off the road. She narrowly avoided having a terrible accident in the car while my four year old daughter was in the car with her. The dealership picked up the car and attempted to fix it. The first time my wife drove the car the accelerator stuck again. They have since came and picked it up again and have had it for almost two weeks with no progress or solutions offered. The car is unsafe and they have no solutions to fix it. They tell us they're waiting on Toyota engineers to come but have no date or time that will happen. My wife is terrified of the car and rightfully so. There are only 15 months left on the lease and we just want them to purchase the car back. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving uphill with the cruise control engaged at approximately 60 MPH, the cruise control failed to disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and case number: 1803150976 was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. Consumer stated the cruise control requested power, electronic failure between cruise, engine and transmission, causing engine RPM to accelerate with no power from transmission. I hit brake pedal to keep engine from being damaged. Few seconds later transmission thumped/clunked. Transmission damaged from that point. I drove car without cruise control till new transmission was installed. …
