The traction light is coming on and going off intermittently. The power steering went out and reverted to manual steering. Sensor codes are intermittently coming up when the check engine light is lit. Problem with the evac system. There are problems with the starter engaging longer than it should. The ignition switch moves more than it should. These problems have happened while driving and also stationary. The power steering went out while my teenage son was driving down the street which was dangerous.

Strong fuel smell from rear of Pontiac G6 near fuel tank. This is a common problem due to a cracked elbow on top of the fuel pump. This issue is happening among all G6 models from 05 to 09 . On 4/7/15, while driving heard chimes. All icons on instrument panel turned on. The fuel gauge needle moved to empty. The low fuel gauge turned on. All this indicating malfunction. The odometer turned off and the code error came on and turned off; then the odometer came back on. All the icons on the instrument panel turned off except for the security light icon which stayed on. It felt as if someone was attempting to disable my vehicle. Later that day turned the vehicle on and everything seemed normal, like it reset itself. On 4/8/15, after driving approximately 70 miles on the highway, the security light icon turned on and stayed on. I took the vehicle directly to the dealer and they informed me they would have to diagnose the vehicle. The result was inconclusive, they did not find anything wrong. …

Vehicle has an extremely strong fuel smell around the vehicle at all times. This smell started about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. The vehicle can't even be parked in the garage for fear of the gas water heater nearby causing the fumes to ignite. The gas smell especially fills the trunk compartment and even sometimes smells inside the vehicle itself causing us to roll the windows down. I have been researching this for several months and found many 2007/2008 G6 owners have the same issue which is a cracked plastic supply or return port on the fuel pump module. There is a recall for the g5 fuel pump issues of the same years...I even live in one of the states mentioned in the g5 recall where this issue is seen. The g5 recall even states "consequence:fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source May result in a fire".

I bought my G6 in 2022. After about a year of having it, issues started happening. Everything was fine up until my passenger side airbag warning appeared on my radio screen and it won't go off. Could be a serious issue with the airbag. Maybe around the end of 2023 I started having problems with my power steering. I could drive down the road and all of a sudden my steering wheel would lock up. I could barely get myself to a spot to get off the road. I had to force the steering wheel to turn. I shut the car off for a minute or so just to see what would happen. After I turned the car back on the steering cleared, but as soon as I decided to go back home it locked back up. Now it's starting to lock back up this year. My major issue I have is the gas smell that's coming from the car. The smell is so strong, it's coming inside the car. …
