What owners report

Purchased 2000 Chrysler Voyager minivan from david stanley Dodge in midwest city, OK. On September 22, 2005, the vehicle caught on fire in the inside of the vehicle, in the rear near the speaker compartment. Luckily the fire extinguished itself and no further damage to the vehicle other than the speaker and melting of wires around speaker. No injuries. Investigated vehicle fires on similar vehicles and found the 2001 and 2002 Chrysler/Dodge minivans were recalled for fire stemming from a manufacturing defect where the on certain Mini vans, condensation from the instrument panel air conditioning ducts May drop through vent holes in the top of the radio and result in a short circuit that subsequently sends direct current to the rear speakers. …

My vehicle hit the rear of a Jeep cherokee at approx. 10 MPH. I stopped and exited the vehicle to look at the damage and found practically nothing. The engine compartment then burst into flames and destroyed the entire front of the van. I do not know what caused the fire, but I thought I should report the incident. I have sent the van to the junk yard. I have taken several pictures of the damage and would be glad to share them with you.

I own a 1999 Plymouth Voyager. Recently, our airbag light would come on intermittently while driving. Also, the horn would work intermittently as well. We have a friend that owns a 1998 Voyager and she told us that she had the same problem, and it was caused by a defective clock spring. She had her van repaired at no charge by the Chrysler dealership, as they had had so many complaints and incidents of this part failing that they actually extended the warranty of the clock spring on the 1998 model to a lifetime warranty. When we took our 1999 Voyager in for repair, we were also told that our clock spring was not working. However, the warranty was not being extended for the 1999 models, so the repair cost us $198.00. We were told to keep our reciept "in case" Chrysler ever issued a recall or changed the status of the parts warranty in the future, so we could get a refund. …

We have paid numerous times to have these same issues looked at parts replaced. New brain as they said for the car, new computer modules. This over the years has cost me untold amounts of time and money. The dash shuts off completely while driving, even though we have had everything replaced. Wipers do what they choose, if we leave them on they stay off.if we turn them off they go on. We have no dash what so ever, unable to ascertain speed in the middle of driving. Numerous times the vehicle has just shut down when coming to a stop. Radio and cd player works and doesn't at variable times. We have had all of this looked at numerous times and no one knows what to do they just make educated guesses and hope it fixes it. We have spent far too much money on this issue. The door locks work sporadic. On occasions we will lose just part of the instrument panel and have half still. …

Own a 98 Plymouth Voyager expresso that intermittently will not crank or will crank and immediately go dead. All dash lights flicker or go out, no fuel indicator, no speedometer. Has died while driving it once which was very dangerous and scary. Failure occurs periodically and is dangerous and vehicle is no longer dependable. Have had numerous things replaced BCM, starter, wiring harness, sensors etc. Problem continues to come back eventually. Has to be a Chrysler defect. I had one dealership deny awareness of a problem with that year minivan and some say "you can try this for 1,000 dollars but it May only work for awhile. This should fall under the lemon law most repairs made only lasted a few months. No repairs have lasted more than a year. Please help...I love my vehicle otherwise but have no money to make further repairs or to buy a new vehicle. …
