What owners report
I am reporting premature and abnormal tire wear on two consecutive Nissan Pathfinder vehicles (2022 and 2024 models). In both cases, tires required replacement at low mileage (approximately 20,000-25,000 miles) despite normal driving and proper maintenance. My 2022 Pathfinder also experienced brake-related issues, which raises additional concern about potential underlying defects. The repeated pattern across multiple vehicles suggests a possible defect involving alignment, suspension, or braking systems. Premature tire wear presents a safety concern, as it can reduce traction, increase stopping distance, and raise the risk of tire failure or blowout, particularly at highway speeds. A Nissan dealership has confirmed the abnormal tire wear and recommended replacement, and previously acknowledged there may be known issues contributing to this condition. …
I was driving the vehicle and it just stopped on the highway, no warning no kickback no precursor that something was wrong with the vehicle, and it stopped, the warning sign: Not available System malfunction came on and then the entire electrical system shut down. I had to have the car towed home because it would not start. I went to the dealer on several attempts and no help was rendered. I was told to either come back or there are too many cars, just really getting the run around for a matter that is fatal. I was driving with my family in the car and it just stopped. I almost had an accident, it could have been fatal. This is unacceptable.
I have tried working with the dealer and Nissan on this issue, with no success. I don't know where else to turn because searching forums there are hundreds of posts from other Pathfinder owners reporting the same defects in their vehicles. I filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer affairs and they insist my issue is simply wear and tear of the vehicle, which is not acceptable. My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, as well as hundreds others report that their vehicle are requiring new brakes as well as new tires within 20,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle brand new. When my dealer notified me of the issue I questioned them, to which they also recognized it wasn't right and something has been wrong since the re-design of this vehicle. …
Driver's side TPS failed and did not hold air causing tire to deflate to 13 pounds of pressure making steering and braking difficult. Car was purchased new in September 2021 with 12 miles. Purchased from dealer with wheels powder coated. Since new up to 3700 miles there was ZERO issues until the tire kept losing pressure. The dealer I took it to claims they will not cover it because the wheels are powder coated and that caused the malfunction. This is ridiculous and having a failed TPS and low tire pressure, the dealer Sansone Nissan told me to drive it to the dealer I purchased it from because he did not want to cover it.
While driving our 2016 Nissan Pathfinder vehicle, we felt a sudden vibration and then the next thing we knew, the right front wheel (tire and rim) fell off the car. The vehicle came down on what remained of the right front wheel assembly. I managed to keep the vehicle on the road until we had enough speed to then coast to a complete stop on the right shoulder of the road. The wheel that came off continued through an open field and collided with a private property fence, damaging the fence in the process. There were a total of 6 of us in the vehicle and thankfully, everyone was wearing their seat belts. Once I confirmed that there were no injuries, I contacted a nearby towing company which then towed the vehicle to the dealership from which we purchased the vehicle. The vehicle has not had any work done that involves the tires since it was purchased. …
I was driving on the highway when my car started vibrating (much like the feeling of when a car needs to get the wheels aligned). I got off of the highway to take it to a nearby Nissan dealership service parts shop to have it looked at. About a block away from the dealership, when I was driving, my front right wheel flew off of my vehicle. My car was then lying on the end of the axle and was not drivable and stuck in the road. I was at the very left side of the street and luckily the wheel did not hit another vehicle or person and cause any injuries. This Pathfinder is a 2016 and I have had it for 2 years. It has 17,000 miles on it and I have not had any issues with the car since I have had it until now. I have not needed to have the tires rotated yet because the tread on the tires look good and not worn down. I have not needed to have the wheels aligned either. …
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the front passenger's side wheel detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hub bolts had sheared off and the rotors, front brakes, fender, door, hood, and wheel well needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where the vehicle was undergoing repairs by the insurance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,909.
Vehicle purchased new 3/2016, less than 15,000 miles (hwy). 12/1/2016 while driving on hwy, rear passenger tire sidewall shredded and macerated. Since buying car, have had frequent "low pressure" readings on all tires randomly without any definite cause that mechanics noted (tires were not removed). The 1 tire was replaced at our expense. The car dealership (Nissan) and tire manufacturer (continental) each defer responsibility to other. There are multiple similar stories easily found online with these tires. While this particular one apparently does not have a recall, perhaps it should before someone dies. Continental crosscontact lx sport
