I bought a brand new 2024 Jeep wrangler which has failed twice for the same issue with just 512 miles on the odometer. The first time it failed happened on the freeway at a speed of 70mph. Smoke started coming out from the rear of the vehicle impairing the traffic behind. I pulled over to the shoulder and noticed oil dripping from the exhaust and the rear undercarriage of the vehicle. I drove the car home fearing it could get on fire. The next day i took the car to the dealership where it was diagnosed with a bad pinion seal on the rear axle at 241miles on the odometer. At around 480 miles on the odometer, the issue came back. Everything happened pretty much the same; smoke coming from the exhaust, differential fluid splashed all over the undercarriage. Vehicle will be towed to the dealership for further inspection.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode with the image of a turtle displayed on the instrument panel. Soon after the failure, the instrument panel went blank. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power with a loud fan blowing sound coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. Upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions however, the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure or diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the manual transmission failed to operate as designed, and the vehicle intermittently hesitated while shifting gear. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
After accepting a prompted Uconnect over-the-air (OTA) software update, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe began experiencing complete loss of motive power while driving. The vehicle suddenly lost acceleration capability and had to be restarted multiple times. I took the vehicle to McPeek's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Anaheim, CA, where technicians confirmed that multiple Wrangler 4xe vehicles had arrived the same day with the same failure following the same Uconnect update. The dealership performed a rollback to the previous software version, but the issue was not resolved. During the post-rollback road test, the technician confirmed that engine and propulsion issues persisted, and my service advisor advised that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. As a result, the Jeep was not released back to me and remains at the dealership pending further direction from Stellantis engineering. …
On 10/10/25, an Uconnect update appeared on info center console. I pressed the update now button and went into a store. After re-entering my vehicle, I drove one block and a message appeared on the dash that stated 'Service Charging System'. At the same time as this message appeared while driving, the car abruptly shut down in traffic, nearly causing a collision with a vehicle behind me. After trying to restart for about 25 minutes, the car restarted and I was able to drive to my destination. On the morning of 10/11/25, I started to drive the vehicle to the mechanic. After about a minute of driving, the check engine light came on. Then about 2 minutes later, the vehicle abruptly shut down while driving, again nearly causing another collision. A message displayed to shift in park and restart. I followed these directions as I also made a call to the dealership to advise of this issue. …
Coming out of our driveway, the Jeep randomly flashed D at us and told us to put the car in park to restart. We thought that was weird as it was, but it only got worse from there. Well over 30 minutes later, while driving northbound I35 in the left lane, we experienced full power failure. We had to make it across three lanes of traffic in the midst of a busy highway with 18-wheelers all around using the only energy left over from our 70mph drive. Once we were on the side of the highway, we were finally able to get the Jeep on and moving again. At this point, the check engine light is on. We were just trying to make it to the next city so we could make a plan, and everything was fine for about 2 more miles. We got onto a bridge and the power failed again. …
Friday, 10/10/25- And over the air update loaded via the radio. Online chatter had rumors of full loss of propulsion after the update, recommendation was to cancel the update to prevent failure. I cancelled the update multiple times. On Sunday afternoon, [redacted]- Uconnect software update ran anyway. Within 30 seconds of completion, the vehicle loss power on the highway, FULL motor/engine shut down on a busy highway. Warning lights and sounds galore, including "shift to park, service transmission." Pulled over, did a full key cycle/restart, vehicle had numerous dashboard warning lights on. Limped vehicle toward home. Would run for 30 seconds, then shut down again. Had to repeat this cycle 5 times to get home 1 mile. Absolutely no guidance from jeep, except for a few posts on social media pages. …
Year: 2024 Make & Model: Jeep Wrangler 4-door 4xe Body Style: Sahara 4x4 VIN: [redacted] On October 14, 2025, I began to drive my car home. After the use of the brakes, while I was pulling out of a large parking lot, the car functionally went into neutral, the "D" on PRNDL display began to blink. The brakes worked. I pulled over, put the car into Park and then into Drive again. Still, no change. I turned the car on and off and put it into Drive and the car began to drive normally, until I reached a stop light, exiting the parking lot. Then, the same thing occurred. The "D" began blinking and the car was unresponsive to the accelerator. I turned off and re-started the car. Again, it drove fine. The "D" was lit, but didn't blink. I was driving very slowly and then went down a hill. As soon as I tapped the brakes, the same thing occurred again. …
I lease a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN [redacted] ). On 10/23/2025, while traveling about 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion and the dash displayed "Put in Park to drive." I had to coast through traffic, stop, shift to Park, and fully restart to regain drive. Within minutes it recurred. This defect is unpredictable and dangerous. I regularly commute on the Ohio Turnpike at highway speeds and I cannot risk driving this vehicle because it can cut power without warning, leaving me unable to accelerate while surrounding traffic closes in. I am avoiding highway use entirely and limiting all driving due to the high risk of rear-end collision during a power loss. The vehicle is unsafe to operate until a permanent remedy exists. Background: the vehicle has previously exhibited powertrain/electrical issues (including overheating) and spent ~2.5 weeks at the dealer over the summer. …
After a bad OTA update in October, in November before the stop charge recall was issued I noticed on Nov 21, when in "ELECTRIC" mode, after 10 or so minutes of driving the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate past half application of the accelerator. This lack of power continues until the accelerator is FULLY pushed on the floor forcing the gas engine on and causing immediate and dangerous acceleration. After this incident on the 11/21, I didn't charge again until I had the 68C recall performed where the dealer told me they think it's fixed. On my way home from the dealer it happened again. From here I emailed the dealer over the holiday and sent them videos of the problem. I opened a case with Jeep and brought it in. I was then told they replicated my issue but that it's normal now since all the updates. …
