I almost had fatal crash with my children because of 'death wobble'. It's not funny & Jeep needs to be sued for refusing to address this issue! Over 50 times when traveling 65 MPH the vehicles shakes uncontrollably forcing me to come to a complete stop on the highway. Why are they allowed to get away with this!!!

Death wobble!!! Death wobble!!! As I was driving down the interstate with heavy traffic, I hit a bump goin 65 MPH and suddenly with out any warning the front end of my Jeep started rapidly wobbling back and forth across the road, nearly causing multiple accidents. It startled me severely, I was able to turn on my hazard lights and started to slowly decelerate while trying to steer to the shoulder. It took until I got down to 25mph for it to stop shimmying. I stopped on the shoulder to inspect the front end off the highway, checked my tire pressure, the shocks, axle and all other parts to see what broke. Everything appeared to be normal and I could not find anything that caused the sever wobbling back and forth of the front end, so carried on, very cautiously. This happens quite often, sometimes going as low at 45mph, but only when something in the road knocks it off balance. …

I have had the "death wobble" since I purchased my Jeep. This happened on both stock suspension and modified suspension and so far, it has happened easily well over 160 times over the course of this last year (I lost count as it happens fequently). I've dished out well over $1,000 to fix (so far), have had two accidents (nov. 2, 2014 and apr. 14, 2015, both minor with no police reports made either time) as a direct result of this, countless near misses, many a drink spilled on the floor board or myself then the floor thanks to either the gut-wrenching wobble itself, or having to slam on the breaks. Even more unsafe, is that everytime it happens, the only way to regain control of the vehicle is to stop immediately or risk further damage and/or losing control. …

Within a couple weeks of driving I was on the interstate at about 65 MPH and hit a small bridge bump, the steering wheel started shaking violently. I had to pull over. I brought it to the dealership and they said they fixed it. The shaking was still there just not as violent. In the past 7 years I have brought it to the dealership 4 times for the same problem. They say they fixed it and the same thing happened. After the warranty ran out they charged me over $3,000.00 to fix it. Again got a little better for awhile, the shaking wasn't as bad. Then it happened again. I brought it back they said there was nothing wrong with it. I had someone take a video on the interstate after I hit a bridge bump showing violent shaking and dangerous control. I showed the dealership the problem they said they have seen it before and told me to call Chrysler. …

While driving down the highway going approximately 60 MPH the vehicle hit something on the road (small bump) which resulted in a violent shaking from the front of the vehicle. I have sinced learned that this condition is commonly known as the death wobble. The condition was so violent I was forced to the side of the road. This has now happened twice in the last four weeks. The first instance I was driving straight, the second instance I was in a curve. The condition does not resolve itself although the magnitude of the vibration does decrease with speed. The vehicle is undrivable with this condition at highway speeds of 55-70 MPH. The condition is induced by normal undulations and variations in the road (I.e.: not only a huge pothole). After stopping on the shoulder and inspecting the undercarriage I noticed nothing unusual. …

Death wobble. I'm sure not the first complaint you've seen for it. This is a complete bs problem to have on a $40,000 vehicle and Chrysler/Jeep needs to be held liable for it. I have spent over $2,000 replacing components on the front-end - none of which have "cured" the violent "death wobble" when I hit a bump or pothole going 50 - 60mph. Just to add another definition to the problem, I will explain in detail. You hit a bump or a pothole going anywhere from 40 to 60 MPH or so, and the whole front end begins to shake violently. Steering wheel shakes, wheels are wobbling back and forth like crazy, and the car is hard to control. There is no way to stop it until you pull off the road and stop the vehicle. …

Tl contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4. On several occasions, the vehicle would bounce. While driving 65 MPH, the contact noticed that the vehicle was bouncing up and down and the front tires were not touching the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the strong damper failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred two months later while driving 60 MPH. The contact had to apply maximum pressure to the brakes and crashed into the median. The crash caused damage to the tie rod. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but they could not find any failures. The contact called the manufacturer and reported the issue that he was experiencing. An inspector was sent to inspect the vehicle and stated that he could not share his findings. The contact is currently waiting for a response from the manufacturer. …

While going appx. 55-70mph, on several occasions, go over a bump in road (does not have to be a big bump) veh. Starts shaking, steering wheel has been jerked out of my hands. Have to come to a complete stop and does not matter where. Veh. Pulls extremely hard not wanting to go forward. Many youtube videos have also been documented on this. Maybe if I marked a traffic accident or death caused by this, Jeep would do something. I have completed a fix that has been good now for several months. Replaced ball joints, added to steering shocks to keep steering forward, replace both tie rods, front end alignment, new shocks (all 4). Have paid out my part on keeping my Jeep serviced. But, Jeep still has not answered this complaint now for years. Expand question: when did this happen. It has been an ongoing problem since I bought it new in 2007. Jeep dealership could not find anything wrong.
