Hit from behind. The drivers seat held up well, but the force of the impact forced my legs backward off of the firewall controls and my legs were up against the seat when the vehicle came to a stop. My lower legs at the calves were crushed and this LED to severe bleeding contained in the legs (compartment syndrome). No fractures but emergency surgery was needed. After reviewing photos of the vehicle interior today, it is apparent that my calves hit the seat adjustment bar that sticks out under and forward of the padded portion of the seat. I find this a common placement of the seat adjustment bar in many vehicles. If not for this bar I would be back to work this week and no significant medical bills. Overall the seat conformed well to me and did not cause me to fracture my neck (severe osteoporosis and prior neck fusion). Updated 06/10/13 updated 6/13/13. …

My wife was in a mva with our 2004 Jeep Liberty with 30,000 miles on it, she was hit from behind by a Plymouth neon at about 30 miles per hour upon impact the Jeep which I thought was one of the safest vehicles on the highway burst into flames thank god my wife acted fast and got herself and her niece and nephew out with only minor injuries if something had jammed or not worked right after the impact they would be dead, with in minutes of them getting out of the Jeep it blew into a giant inferno I can say that god was watching over them that day. I have since done research and this issue and it has been an on going thing with Jeep since 1995 how can this be allowed just for them to make the all mighty dollars. This is a true crime and they get no punishment. They built the Jeep with the Ford pinto design .

I was approaching the onramp,& as I turned on I heard a noise. Thinking I had a flat I immediately pulled off to check my tires upon rounding the rear of my vehicle I saw liquid on the ground upon backing up a step I could see it was my gas tank with the broken brackets. I thank god there were no sparks & that I was not yet @ speed on the interstate. I was terrified as to how close to death I possibly was. Then I find out here that it had happened 1 other time (that's reported here) but not to the manufacturer. Now I'm out of my vehicle while being repaired and out of work till it's fixed. This should never have to come out of my pocket but will because of negligence. I only wish I had though to take pictures before it was loaded & towed to the garage.
