I have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk currently around 33,500 miles. I bought this vehicle new and have been having issues with it since I got it. I hear electrical crackling and popping throughout the cabin, mostly in the dashboard. I thought at first it was the adaptive cruise or forward braking system engaging, but the sound seems to be completely random. A common symptom is the speakers, microphones, and speaker-based safety alerts are completely cut out. If I'm on a call, the person on the other end will not be able to hear me until the speakers come back. …

Our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to exhibit the following conditions: brake lights remained ON, ESC failure, AutoPark Failure, Cruise Control failure, vehicle started without depressing the brake pedal. I researched possible recalls and found Z48 for HCU/ABS module failures. Our vehicle was in the recalled build dates. We took it to Palace Chrysler Jeep Ram Inc. in Lake Orion, MI for repair. They "reflashed" the software, cleared the fault codes and returned the vehicle to us. In 3 key cycles, the failures returned. We took the car back to the dealership. They stated that the reflash wasn't done correctly. (blamed machine error) Reset the fault codes and in 3-5 key cycles the problem returned. Now on the third try, the dealership replaced the HCU/ABS module and charged us $1,100 for the repair. We requested reimbursement from Stellantis and have been denied 3 times. …

My jeep has a screen on the dashboard that controls the radio, navigation, and settings for the vehicle (i.e. the main "navigation screen"). All of the safety and advanced driver assistance systems are controlled through this screen and user interface. There is no other way to control/adjust these systems. There is a widespread issue with the late generation WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokees where the screen delaminates, rendering the entire screen and user interface non-functional. This results in a safety issue where multiple systems (including the ADAS) cannot be cannot be adjusted or used. I reached out to Jeep/Chrysler/Stellantis for assistance in repairing/replacing the screen. The denied a claim to repair or replace the screen. I do not feel safe operating a vehicle where I cannot control or adjust critical operations of the car. …

Warnings · Aug 2024

Electronic stability control, check engine and ABS lights are all on. This effects not only my ESC- I have gone out of control multiple times in bad weather, but because of this the cruise control and the automatic starter on my vehicle do not work either. I live in northern VT where winters are tough. ESC needs to be working properly to prevent potential for crash. I have come close several times this winter to going out of control. Also very annoying that the convenience items do not work. Lastly- these lights have been showing on the dash since last summer. I wanted to trade the vehicle in about this time and still do for a different vehicle but can not because of the dash being lit up. This is causing significant financial impact on my household as the vehicle is depreciating day by day and I would certainly not get what its worth with a dashboard full of mechanic error lights.

Adaptive cruise control · Aug 2024

Navigation touch screen delamination rendering the user interface that controls many of the car's functions inoperable. Many of the advanced driver assistance systems along with settings for the car's engine, suspension, and steering are controlled through this interface. This is a widespread issue in the WK2 models of Jeep Grand Cherokees. Safe operation of the vehicle is predicated on a functioning touch screen. The car cannot completely be operated safely without this user interface. I reached out to Stellantis with my concerns. Stellantis will not cover the cost of replacing the screen once the car is out of warranty. These cars are unsafe to operate without a functioning touch screen.

The infotainment screen is faulty, it is delaminating and causing a lot of distracting and dangerous driving issues: - Rear camera and warnings do not work correctly - Screen flickers, and changes screen which is very distracting while driving. - Screen will randomly turn on or off and change settings. It has been ongoing since December 2021, I took it to the dealer who told me it was just a software issue and it would update and fix it. It never did. I took it back (now out of warranty) told me they would fix it and ordered the part. After trying to contact them, 6 weeks later, they are now refusing to fix it. Jeep are telling me the same thing.

Rearview system braking · Dec 2021

Brakes lights remain on when vehicle is in Park and in Drive without brake pedal activation. ABS is also engaged in Park and presents with hard pedal and no travel. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealer in September 2014. Note- Recall Z48 software update was performed April 2023. Service notes state replaced ABS module, no change. Internal pressure sensor reporting 117PSI with no brake pedal input. Replaced HCU module. I paid $1529 for this repair. FCA refused to reimburse me on the original Z48 recall and now refuses reimbursement for the 94B/NHTSA 24V-838 recall.

Automatic emergency braking · Sep 2024

The unit has been taken to Chrysler dealers in Puerto Rico three times. On each visit, we were charged $120.00 for a total of $360.00 for the computer scan. We were charged for an electrical module, part no. 68442478AB, worth $406.59. The situation has not been resolved. The vehicle has abnormalities in the braking system, which consequently affects other functions and even drains the batteries. I would like to sell the unit, but it is not resalable due to the unresolved recall. I need Chrysler to offer me options such as a refund or another unit without defects.
