My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. …
While driving at approximately 70 mph on a highway under normal conditions, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power. A check engine light illuminated at the time of the failure, and the vehicle was unable to maintain normal acceleration or consistent speed. The loss of power created a hazardous situation in active traffic, as the vehicle could not safely maintain speed with surrounding vehicles. The vehicle was later inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed severe internal engine damage, including cylinder damage and engine misfire requiring major repair or replacement. No clear root cause has been provided. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms before the incident. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: NONE OBSERVED. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. DEALER CONFIRMATION: YES. MANUFACTURER INSPECTION: UNKNOWN.
The car suddenly and unintentionally accelerated. To avoid going through the back of my garage, I turned slightly and hit the frame of the garage. It continued to accelerate for a few seconds until I managed to stop it. I then backed up. Again, the car suddenly unintentionally accelerated. I managed to stop it. I slowly drove it into the garage. I left it in the garage until having it towed to Planet Hyundai. I did not want to drive it in case it accelerated on the drive to Planet Hyundai. I was driving about 5 mph when I hit the frame of the garage. The car continued to accelerate. Automatic Emergency breaking and Forward collision warning. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. The inspector or the dealer could not reproduce the problem. The vehicle can be inspected. …
The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the fuel filler door failed to open as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
The contact's wife owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife reported that the vehicle shuddered significantly and failed to exceed 30 MPH while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors were leaking, and the dealer determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had redesigned the fuel injectors due to the known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under the extended warranty because the vehicle had exceeded the required mileage. The contact was informed that parts needed to be ordered to repair the vehicle. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 22-FL-002H. …
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine, emissions, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The contact stated that the failure had occurred 3 times within 10 months. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with fuel injection system failure. The dealer replaced the fuel injector for the first time. The contact stated that after the second failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that another fuel injector was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed again after the third time and the contact was informed that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced; however, the were not yet repaired. …
The vehicle experienced a catalytic converter efficiency failure that was confirmed by an authorized dealership in January 2025. The dealer indicated the catalytic converter required replacement; however, the replacement was not performed, and the vehicle was returned to service with an unresolved emissions defect. Less than one year later, the vehicle developed recurring emissions system failure, loss of power, drivability issues, and repeated warning indicators. The vehicle is currently out of service while additional components, including oxygen sensors and spark plugs, are reported to be affected. The manufacturer is declining to replace the catalytic converter and is attributing the condition to oil consumption despite the prior unresolved emissions failure. The issue has been confirmed by dealership diagnostics and has resulted in prolonged loss of use of the vehicle. …
I was merging onto interstate traffic when the vehicle suddenly stuttered and decelerated. I managed to merge, then cross over several lanes of traffic and pulled over. Thought maybe a fuel problem (I had just filled the tank), or overheating. It only has 24K miles on it, and I've faithfully taken the vehicle to the dealer for regular service intervals, so I know it is not a fluid leak or problem. after a few minutes, I was able to start the car again, but it immediately shut down. Did this several times before giving up and calling for a tow truck. Had it towed to the dealer, and the next day they told me it needed a new engine, but the service department needed approval from corporate Hyundai. I'm waiting with baited breath.
