The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while an occupant was seated in the second row passenger seat, the contact accidentally tapped the "ONE-TOUCH" TILT-AND-SLIDE BUTTON. Despite the occupant seated in the second row, the seat continued to fold, nearly crushing the occupant. The occupant managed to jump out of the vehicle as the seat continued to fold; they did not suffer any injuries. The contact stated that the vehicle was in park(P) at the time of the failure, which allowed the occupant to reach safety; the contact noted that had a child or a pet been seated in that second row, the results could have been fatal. The contact received an email from a "Reuters" news article about Hyundai Manufacturer Recall Number 296, which the contact related to the seat failure in the recall. The remedy for the recall was not yet available. …

On [redacted], I was loading items in the rear cargo area of an Avis rental vehicle, a 2025 Hyundai Palisade when the power liftgate was fully open above me, without warning and without me commanding it to close, the liftgate unexpectedly came down/fell. It struck me in the head and I lost consciousness, I don't know how long I was unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I was in the rear cargo area of the vehicle with the liftgate on my back. I sought emergency medical treatment the same day at Chippenham Hospital in [redacted]. My records show evaluation for neck pain and headache. CT imaging of my head/brain and cervical spine , and discharge info for concussion and a pinched nerve in the neck. I subsequently received orthopedic and spine treatment and physical therapy for continuing neck, back, shoulder and knee complaints. …
Engine fire caused by AC compressor. On 09/28/24, at 1700 miles and in the parking lot of a restaurant, smoke suddenly began filling the cabin and when I looked out the window the entire car's front was engulfed in a gray smoke. The overpowering smell was of burning wire insulation, plastic, and rubber. I immediately shut the car off, popped the hood, and was ready to run into the restaurant for a fire extinguisher when I noticed the large cloud of smoke was dissipating, but the heat was still incredibly extreme and a good amount of smoke was still pouring from the engine. My sister-in-law entered the car to retrieve her purse, and her eyes instantly started watering and she had a headache for several days. She is still complaining of her chest burning. After calling roadside, the AAA driver stated the car really smelled badly burned, and hauled the car off to the dealer of purchase. …
1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. …
While sitting at a stop sign, I attempted to place my vehicle in Park. I opened the driver's side door, but the car had not actually shifted into Park. None of the vehicle's safety systems engaged when the door was opened. The car rolled forward with me partially outside the vehicle, dragging me until it struck a tree. This incident reflects a critical failure in the vehicle's electrical/safety systems: The transmission did not engage Park when selected. The door-open rollaway prevention system did not activate. The automatic front collision system failed to stop the vehicle. Because multiple electronic safeguards failed at the same time, this appears to be an electrical or computer system malfunction rather than driver error.
The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the computer indicated that the vehicle was going the wrong way and to turn around. Additionally, there was a beeping sound coming from the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 2,080.
