What owners report

The underbody factory gravel shield structurally failed and sheared along its molded stress lines under normal driving conditions. The part is fully available for physical inspection. This failure occurred silently without any prior warning lamps, messages, or symptoms, and was discovered by a technician during a routine maintenance oil change at 11,645 miles on August 5, 2026. The structural failure was visually confirmed by Wyatt Johnson Hyundai, but they refused to honor the warranty, and a subsequent corporate review by the manufacturer resulted in a final denial on October 7, 2026. Due to this two-month administrative delay, the unsecured component has progressively degraded and is now sagging dangerously low and dragging directly on the asphalt. …

I have been cut very deeply at least 6 times on the driver's door, and my wife has been cut at least 3 times (she does not ride in it as often) on the passenger side door while closing. The edge (point) on both sides is rough and sharp. I have begun carrying first aid supplies as it takes 20 mins to stop the bleeding and I am getting scars. This has been reported to the dealership but the service manager states they will investigate. I have found numerous reports online of the same issue with 2025 Palisades. This also occurred with the 2020-2022 model and resulted in recalls of some trim packages.

1. The exact component that failed is unknown at this time. The fire appeared to originate in the driver-side front area of the engine compartment near the headlight. Prior to the fire the vehicle experienced engine shaking and a check engine light. The vehicle has been towed to a Hyundai dealership and is available for inspection by insurance investigators, the manufacturer, or safety investigators upon request. 2. The vehicle caught fire while it was being operated on a public roadway shortly after leaving our residence. Flames were visible from the engine compartment within minutes of driving. This created an immediate safety risk to the occupants of the vehicle and to other motorists because the fire occurred suddenly while the vehicle was in motion. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. …

This is the second time I've had this incident. I was driving in the middle of nowhere Texas, no other cars or pedestrians were present. There were no overpasses or construction and out of nowhere. My sunroof exploded at 50 miles an hour. The weather was fair around 60 . This being the second time it had happened. I knew it was a sunroof and did not open the cover to inspect. I pulled over, got out of my car and looked and saw that my sunroof had blown out and upwards. The first time this happened, it was covered with minimal effort. Now that this has happened a second time with the car less than two years old I have to wait for the manufacturer to confirm it will be covered again.

The sunroof glass exploded while traveling on the highway. The glass panel was closed shut about a minute before the incident. Small and large glass fragments entered the passenger cabin while traveling at highway speed. One large fragment caused a small laceration to the drivers arm. Another fragment struck the vehicle traveling behind and caused minor damage. Other large and small fragments landed on 2nd row passengers. There was no evidence of a foreign object or road debris causing this incident.

Two days ago, my husband took our vehicle to the car wash. At the other end of the car wash, it was discovered that the closed panoramic sunroof was completely destroyed during the process. Shards of glass were everywhere. We have contacted Hyundai and they have told my husband there is no class action suit about this problem. Even though it is under warranty, as it is a 2022, they refuse to take responsibility to take care of the damages. I have found through my research, that this was a class action lawsuit, which was closed in 2017, but continues to be a very bad problem for not only Hyundai but many other vehicles using a particular type of glass. we are now unable to get the parts to repair it, as the glass company cannot get a part from Hyundai, and Hyundai refuses to comply comply.
