What owners report
The contact owns a 2026 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the brake was applied inadvertently without her touching the brake pedal. The contact added that several unknown warning lights appeared: an orange car with a speedometer underneath, an orange circle with an "I" in the middle, an orange circle with a vehicle in the middle, the forward collision light, and the master warning light. The contact also stated that "collision mitigation braking system problem, see dealer immediately" and "adaptive cruise control problem, see dealer" messages appeared. The vehicle was taken to a dealer twice. On the first occasion, the failure could not be replicated, and during the second visit, a diagnosis has yet to be provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
My 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Elite has twice applied its brakes on its own, with no obstacle, vehicle, or hazard in front of me to justify braking. On July 13, 2026, at approximately 5:36 p.m., I was driving in evening traffic when the vehicle suddenly braked hard on its own. Nothing was in front of me. The car behind me nearly rear-ended me and had to brake sharply to avoid a collision, and the driver reacted with road rage. On July 16, 2026, at approximately 6:03 p.m., my young son was in the vehicle with me. While I was driving in traffic, the vehicle again braked on its own with no obstacle ahead. A sedan behind me nearly rear-ended me. This sudden, uncommanded braking happens without warning while I am driving in traffic and has nearly caused a rear-end collision on both occasions. It is terrifying and I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle, especially with my child. …
2025 Honda Passport with 10k miles ***Braking issues - -Collision Mitigation System going off randomly and often, with no oncoming traffic, no obstacles or obstructions. -Phantom braking and "BRAKE" warning/steering wheel shake. Occurs often on windy, hilly roads with sharp curves, often to the right. Branches, guard rails, etc will activate the system at high speeds 50 mph and over, causing serious safety concerns of the vehicle stopping for no true cause. -White cars in oncoming traffic seemingly activate the "BRAKE" warning on occasion. -"BRAKE" warning went off and significantly slowed the car when a water filled pothole was to the right. -Issues have occurred with no cars ahead of the Passport. ***Engine issues after getting fuel - -After getting gas, check engine, power steering, and battery light will sometimes turn on. Only resolution is to restart the vehicle. …

The push button gearshifting. I have accidentally hit reverse about 100 times since I've owned this car in six months. It ended up in a rear end collision with a parked car. Then when I tried to drive forward, I backed up again. The first time was intentional backing and I didn't see the car behind me... the second time I was attempting to drive forward and I hit the reverse button again. It was instinctual. I hit the car twice.
On this day it was approximately 5:45AM my 2023 Honda Passport indicated to Brake in the dash then proceeded to snatch me into a curb at 50 MPH. I have since taken it back to the dealership where they can not diagnose the problem. I have contacted Honda Corp. which they haven't been able to help. The dealership stated that they could not preform an alignment as my frame or suspension may be damaged or bent.
First new car in my life and I'm 70. When we bought the car, within a week the entire dash board lit up with warnings. Call the dealer, they towed it to their shop and "calibrated" the Collision Mitigation front facing camera. This service was Completed but within the next 2 years, the situation repeated itself over and over But would always go away. The last time the system failed (with all of the bells and whistles) I went back to Honda and they informed me a replacement was required. $1500 later the front facing Multipurpose Camera was replaced. The car's 3 year warranty expired 2 months before the needed replacement. The dealer told me that these cameras have been a significant problem, and are replaced often. The replacement camera has a different part number from what was installed on the car when built. …
I have twice now attempted to get this recall fixed and the dealer -Ken Garf Honda of Riverdale, Utah- has refused to schedule the appointment within 60 days of being notified. I attempted to schedule the recall repair in July when first notified of the recall and was told they could not schedule it with the parts being ordered. They said they'd order the parts and contact me, but never did. Today at 10:30 a.m. MT I attempted to again schedule the recall repair and they again said it could not be scheduled until the parts are ordered and they gave me an estimated date of when they would get back to me of 90 days from today. I reminded them the law requires it to be repaired within 60 days of notice and they hung up on me. They are now refusing to take my calls.
