Owner reports

Problem is the bolt that holds serpentine belt tensioner on has broken on twice in the last year. Why I am reporting this because the last time it broke I almost had a head on collision on 2 lane road belt broke as I was going around turn lost control of my steering barley missing the on coming vehicle and ditch on opposite side of rode. Ps this must have happen before I bought the vehicle because the bolt I removed that broke off was numeber 12 strength which could not find on internet to replace the bolt honda uses is a #10 strength.
Steering wheel is hard to turn quickly at low speeds, and while at parking. I knew that was a problem in 2010 in thousand of these vehicle, which Honda replaced the part, with two efforts, after being supplied with wrong part in the past. I took my car to local Honda dealer today (harsons Honda), who complained the same thing, and wants me to replace the power steering pump during my timing belt change. I ask then whether they can look for, whether my van has the correct part (which probably have), but said there is a no way to check unless I have the invoice, which I definitely have not, as I purchased from a private owner. However, the symptoms look like the same (which technician complaint due to failure in power steering pump, but did not tell anything about the part, see attached report), that it is having the same issue, which thousands of Odyssey owner faced before. …

My Honda Odyssey shuts off completely while driving, at that time you can't turn the steering wheel (or it is very very hard to turn). This is preceded by usually the lights on dashboards flashing. Sometimes it will shut off (dashboard will go black) and come right back after few seconds. Other times the I have to stop and turn it on again and it works. Yesterday it turned off and the car came to stop then I moved the battery little and the hazard light started flashing. When it's completely dead even hazard light would not blink. Today it happened again and even after moving the battery it did not get power back. I had left the hazard light on but it was not blinking. However after around 5 minutes or so on it's own the hazard light started blinking and I could drive off.
The car has become increasingly hard to steer over the last two to three years to the point that it is almost impossible to turn it into parking spots or other areas at low speeds. My wife feels particularly unsafe about driving it like this, as she is afraid she will hit another car or object related to the inability to turn without manually overpowering the steering wheel. In checking for a recall, I noted that there are multiple other customer complaints with similar issue. Please address as possible. Thank you. For onset date, this is a gradually worsening issue. I would say that I first noticed slight increased resistance about 3-4 years ago. It has worsened to the point that it is now a major resistance when attempting to turn at low/minimal speed.
Steering becomes tight and very hard at low speeds and my wife started complaining of sore arms. I tried and found it to be quite hard. Took it to the dealer and he flushed power steering fluid and charged me for it though there is a TSB on how to fix it. Took it to the tire shop and they asked me to take it to the alignment shop. Then I searched the internet and found TSB a11-039 and several other letters from Honda to customers. Honda extended the warranty but did not inform the owners!! I did not receive any communication regarding this and my vehicle does not show any open recalls in Honda website. Steering is quite critical to the vehicle and Honda should recall instead of playing with lives of customers.
This is a known issue with the Honda Odyssey. The pump had been replaced 1 month into owning the van. Then it was replaced under recall because of the same issue and not it is doing it again. >100K miles but it had been reported multiple time and the issue could not be reproduced. It is a time issue. The more you drive it the worse it gets. There is a noise and the steering is hard. At low speed you can not turn(parking lots) or it is very hard to turn. When they drive it in the parking lot they would not get the noise. Honda told me to prove that the van was in the shop for an issue(they purge their records every 3 years). This is a known issue make them fix it...
After installing new set of 4 tires for my Honda Odyssey and have the tires balance and align by professional goodyears service mechanics. I can feel the Mini van keep pulling to the left pretty fast and dangerously. I talk to the wheel shops manager, and there is nothing they can do since the wheel alignment is fine. After looking at this issues online, I see lots of people who own 2007 Honda Odyssey have the same issues and turn out to be issues with the factory installed spring and strut that need to be aligned and fixed. I almost got into an accident due to the car sudden turn to the left without any kind of warning on hwy 85.
My 2007 Odyssey was diagnosed as having a power steering leak. This was funny because my 2004 accord was also diagnosed with the same issue. Multiple mechanics suggested that perhaps there was an issue with power steering machinery in hondas from those years. In fact, there were recalls for both 2004 accords and 2007 odysseys but our vehicle VIN numbers did not fall under those recalls. However, this is still concerning that this is due to faulty parts and would like Honda to consider a free replacement as they would have for those vehicles for whom the parts were recalled.
There is no power steering in the vehicle at low speeds. Steering wheel extremely hard to turn. I have noticed you loose the power steering when turning into a parking spot or driving at low speeds (kids carpool lane). I feel that this is a safety issue because if you do not have a lot of arm strength (which a lot is needed to control car) you will not be able to control the vehicle if needed in these situations. This can be very dangerous if a vehicle cannot be controlled. The vehicle also makes a very loud noise when turning the steering wheel when the weather is cold.
