Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2007 Honda Odyssey owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
I am reporting a safety issue with my 2007 Honda Odyssey. The left power sliding door latch assembly has failed, causing the sliding door to open while driving. The door does not consistently register as securely closed, and the vehicle's alarm activates continuously, which has made the vehicle inoperable. This condition presents a serious safety hazard to the driver and passengers because the door cannot be relied upon to remain securely latched during normal operation. The issue has been ongoing for approximately six months and has progressively worsened. The failure appears to involve the door latch assembly responsible for securing the door and signaling that it is properly closed. I contacted the manufacturer, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and requested assistance due to the safety nature of this issue. …
Power sliding doors on EXL model becomes slightly ajar/open after the door is closed and the power to the sliding doors is off. Furthermore, door slid open while the vehicle is moving (happened 3 times over the years) with our family dog falling out of the car in the most recent situation. (In the other two times, door slid open next to my kids who were buckled in and thus were not harmed). Please note that for the Honda Odyssey, all doors are automatically locked when the transmission is shifted out of PARK. Thus the door should not open on its own especially while the vehicle is moving. Dealership cannot replicate the problem and wants to replace the door latches which have previously been replaced (when the first two incidents happened). Even with this repair, they cannot guarantee that the door will not slide open while the vehicle is moving.
I was parked at Walmart and got groceries came out opened my sliding door and it fell off the hinges due to bad hardware says it will cost 2500 to fix wtf. Then a month later the other fell off also why when there are so many other reports of this happening is there not a recall already or at least an investigation. I mean come on you don't even have an option for reporting sliding door falling off
My power sliding door pulls shut but then pops out enough to register that the door is open. Pulling on the door does not pull away from the body when it is physically pulled. The power door button on the dash and the key fob do not work for that same door. I have tried shutting off and turning on the switch with no response. I'm afraid that the door will slide open while driving.
We drove the Honda Odyssey 2007 to a nearby swimming pool and opened the driver side sliding door. The door resisted opening and fell off onto the ground. Nobody was hurt but someone was almost hurt. The door had made grinding noises and was difficult to open for about a week before the incident happened.
Right passenger door feel off hinge and hung. I had to catch the door since I was by myself. Yes issue was confirmed with dealer. No inspection from insurance or police. No indications of failure of door, automatic door function was not work so manual function was engaged.
I was involved in a three car accident. I was the third car, we were leaving from a traffic light on highway maryland 301 that just turned green. According to the driver of the second car, driver of car one slammed on her brakes after taking off. I than ran into car number two. I sustained front end damage and my air bags did not deploy.
Open driver sliding door to place groceries and shut the door. There was a buzzing sound (which has sounded previously but goes away if the sliding door lock is put into place) as I attempted to drive. As I turned a corner, the door opened all the way while I was driving on a city street. I used the automatic door closer and it closed. Less than 10 minutes later, still while driving on a street, the door opened fully again. I braked and put the car in park and attempted to use the automatic door closer, and it closed, but opened again right after I started the car and turned a corner. I stopped the car and got out and attempted to close the door manually, but it wouldn't close tightly. Because I was only a block away from home, I drove home and parked in the garage. I attempted to close the door several times, but it wouldn't close completely shut. …
The passenger side sliding door will not close completely using powered closing mechanism. When the power mechanism is turned off on the dashboard and the door is closed manually by hand, it stays closed but only for a few seconds. Then the back part of the door pops open. It does not matter how many times the back of the door is pushed closed (and the lock button hurriedly locked) the back of the door will pop open. When it is being driven down the road/highway the door open light is on, the door is not closed completely and road/highway noise is heard from the partially open door. On occasion, (when turning right, going downhill, going over certain bumps) the light will go off and the door will "close" but this is only temporary. As soon as the turn is finished, not going downhill, or go over another small bump, the door will pop open in the back and the light will turn back on. …
I received a recall notice relating to faulty vsa system in Honda odysseys. My vehicle was totalled as a result of a single driver accident that occured on ct-15 merrit parkway in January 2011. It snowed that day in connecticut although there was no visible snow on the highway when this happened and at a particular turn, the vehicle skidded (no break was applied), and after trying to control through turning the steering hit the road divider barricades facing forward and then sideways resulting into damage to radiator system and activating all air bags. I spoke with Honda representative today who advises that they cannot assist me further because vehicle is not available for inspection and they cannot therefore confirm or deny whether the issue was caused due to this matter. My request to speak to the supervisor was declined. I do not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed.
