Around 4a.m I smelled from my room something burning I woke up looked out the window & saw fire coming out of my 2000 f-150 pick up truck from under the hood. Went outside & took the matter in my own hands I quickly got the house water hose & turned off the flames. Thank god fire did not reach any fuel lines nobody was injured & fire did not reach the house. I was thinking of how could this happen if my truck was not moved for 2 days & was just parked in front of my home. I went ahead & did some research on line & found out there was a recall for my vehicle safety recall 05s28-speed control deactivation switch fire.
Had driven approximately 5 miles parked in a lowes parking lot went into the store for about 45min. Only to come out to my truck on fire. The truck was completely off and no one was in it, and there are only 2 sets of keys one in my pocket and the other at home. The vehicle was locked. Prior to driving the 5 miles it had not been driven in 2 days. Ford says it's not there problem and insurance only wants to give us $3,700.00. My husband is a retired veteran and this whole situation has caused his ptsd to be triggered.

Our 2000 Ford 150, VIN [redacted], caught fire after our supervisor parked the vehicle when he was checking on crews, it is due to the cruise control switch. Ford said they sent us two recall letters, but we never received them and they can not prove that they sent them, they sent us computer generated generic forms showing dates that they could have typed in after the fire so they wouldn't have to pay. Anyway we purchased the vehicle in mid-January and they say they sent us our first recall letter in February, they would not have had our information that fast. Anyway, our insurance paid for the repairs less our deductible. I have written to william c Ford, he didn't reply but we received a postcard asking us to call the customer service department which we did, they still denied to pay for the repairs. …
