1995 e-350 motorhome the ABS system failed twice and was repaired both times. The ABS was out of warranty. The consumer feels that the ABS should not have failed at such low mileage. The first ABS failed at 37000 miles. The second one failed at 73000 miles.

This vehicle developed cracks on both brake rotors thru to the fins. I have both in my possession. I have been in contact with Ford motor co. And they deny any responsibility as my warranty had expired in May of 2000. I had a wobble in the steering wheel for sometime prior to May of 2000 but did not realize what it was. It became inceasingly worse, when I spoke with the local Ford dealer they referred me to automotive & rv specialists as the dealer could not work on a large vehicle. The rotors were replaced with napa rotors as rv specialists owner mr. Dallas shark said Ford was having problems with casting in their rotors and it would not make sense to replace with two more Ford rotors. Ford has denied reinbursement for this reason. Mr shark stated that this was a serious safety issue as the rotors could have exploded at anytime leaving me with no braking capability at all. …

Toms river schools vehicle maint. Dept maintains 17 Ford e-350 Mini school buses, 1995 and 1998 model years. This brake hose failure was due to a rusted portion of the hose assembly . The area that rusted away is the crimped connection which joins the rubber hose to the steel fitting end of the hose assembly. This rust is not visible while doing a routine inspection of the brake system because it is covered by a rubber sleeve!. Apparantly water/moisture is collecting under this rubber sleeve and corroding the steel crimped area of the fitting until there is no more of a secure connection of the rubber hose to the steel , then when the brakes are applied and the fluid is pressurized in the brake system the rubber hose will blow away from the steel fitting!...I believe this is a serious problem as it is sudden brake loss, multiplied by the fact that a routine prevetive maintenance check …

This has been the 3rd time I have had to have a sensor replaced, I understand from other motorhome owners of fords that they have had numerous warning lights of ABS warning and have had to have their sensors replaced Ford knows about this situation and has not done asnything about replacing them with a heany duty sensor, it is a small cost item but if you cannot do the work yourself it is very costly as labor at $80 per hour mounts up, could you please see if Ford has a TSB covering these sensors.

ABS light kept coming on. Took vehicle to dealer & mechanic could not locate cause of problem. Went home, and vehicle started vibrating when light came on again and brakes were applied. Took it back to dealer, and mechanic replaced some of parts on brake booster/universal joints/rotors and pads/master cylinder, and other parts. Problem still exist. A different mechanic did not know what caused problem. Informed owner to trade vehicle in.
