What owners report
The car is a 2022 with only 17k miles it started by smelling like gas really bad in the car and outside of it and eventually leaking gas badly so i took it into the dealership and it turns out there is a defective weld on the fuel filler neck and it had been leaking for a while. It was a major fire hazard not just for myself, but others on the road. Filling my garage up with fuel vapors and it was 1 spark away from catching on fire. So I contacted Stellantis to see if they would make it right and they refused to and told me things like that happen. It doesn't sit right with me. There was no warning lamps , messages anything of that sort. The leak was directly next to the exhaust as well.
Intermittently the vehicle will jerk as if it looses power when driving, it has also happened when at a stop light and acceleration begins it jerks. It happens more often when at a complete stop and vehicle starts to accelerate. Vehicle was taken to melloy dodge in los lunas NM and they stated they were unable to find a problem
While traveling on the highway at approx. 70mph at night the vehicle shutdown completely resulting in the loss of throttle, power steering and lights. This is an safety issue that can cause death or serious bodily harm to the driver and other drivers along a motorway as the vehicle is no longer able to be seen in low light situations and the vehicle is unable to be properly controlled due to the loss of power steering. Issue was deemed due to loose bolts for the power distribution center.
The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally strong fuel odor on the interior of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, the fuel odor was extremely strong. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

Independent service center confirmed the cause as - "Found plastic fuel tank leaking around the filler nipple that is plastic welded in. Also, the auxiliary pump has a dark spot like it may be sleeping as well. Need to replace the fuel tank and would recommend replacing the fuel pumps as a precaution." Final repair charge was $4437.03. Independent service center replace fuel tank and fuel pumps with Mopar parts from the closest Dodge dealer. In review with the service center they stated that fuel was dripping onto the heat shield above the exhaust and could have caused a fire. - No other agencies inspected the issue or repair. …
I have had to replace the vapor canister on 2 dodge chargers I have owned seems to be a common issue. Check engine light came on both instances one causing issues with inspection the other with emissions test and I had to replace the vapor canister on both in order to fix my issues delayed the process in getting my vehicle registered by the state. Seems there was a previous recall on the issue but has since lapsed the time period to have fixed with reimbursement had the issue checked by an auto services establishment and family member to confirm my issues and then repaired issues each time with a family member. …
I viewed the recalls and it's still having the same issues like it's never been fixed, first off when I start the car it has a foul gas odor and the dealership said it was okay but I'm more than positive it's an exhaust leak, also when I first got the car the heated seats wouldn't turn off because of the radio malfunction I've actually took it to where I bought the car(John Gibson Autosales) to get it fixed but all they did was inserted a new radio screen for me and it made my problems even worse I asked them to fix it and they said I'd have to pay for any other work they did in the car.. It's having multiple electrical issues and in my opinion I don't believe the car is safe to drive at all with the heated seats turning on by themselves and having no control over it.
While coming around a 35mph turn my car shut its self off. Normally it would say please put car in park but it shut off and had to panic and pull hard to make it around the turn. Put car in park then I was able to restart the car.
