My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe has a recurring pattern of excessive oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, repeated check engine light events, P0420 catalyst-efficiency faults, and repeated catalytic-converter-related repairs. At approximately 75,000 miles, the vehicle shut down on the freeway. At approximately 121,000 miles, the first catalytic converter failed. Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel documented P0420 and catalyst failure in November 2025, and GM service history reflects catalytic-converter replacements at 131,468 miles and approximately 141,082 miles. The vehicle also underwent major injector-related repair in early 2026. At 141,620 miles, Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel started an oil consumption test and stated in writing that oil consumption can lead to repeat failed converters and false oxygen sensor readings. Despite substantial repairs, the problem pattern continued. …

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with the 5.3L V8 experienced a severe engine failure at approximately 92,144 miles. The vehicle developed multiple misfires and was towed to the Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis. The dealership documented a failed lifter, significant camshaft damage, metal in the engine oil, and metal contamination throughout the engine. The engine had to be replaced with a complete long block at a total cost of approximately $14,395. I am concerned because this was a major internal engine failure at relatively low mileage, involving a lifter and resulting in extensive engine damage. GM has issued technical service information regarding lifter-related conditions and misfires affecting the 5.3L L84 engine family, which is the engine in my vehicle. GM provided $1,859.29 in partial repair assistance but has declined any additional assistance. …

The check engine light came on on my Chevy Tahoe, November 2023. The system started to fail it would say for collision not able service ESC system. I would bring it into the shop. They would hook it up to the computer and they would say oh nothing wrong we just reset it. Then it started to shut down and it would say proceed with caution, low acceleration, no front and collision service ESC and I would have. Luckily I was in a city so I took it to the shop. They gave me a print off. Said there was no technician cleared it. I was able to make it home and I made an appointment. They put it on the computer. they said oh nothing's wrong. Everything's fine then it did it again and I was going through the mountains. I noticed that my car smelled of gas and that the gas gauge was just sucking fuel and I knew this was a problem.. …

During a normal acceleration from an on-Ramp onto a major interstate a Check Engine Light (CEL) came on with warnings of safety features no longer being active. The vehicle begin vibrating abnormally and the pedal was not very responsive. I took the next exit and stopped at an auto parts store to have the engine code checked. Cylinder #2 misfired due to an injector issue. The vehicle was confirmed to have this issue at a Chevrolet dealership. The car was a CPO through FORD and was covered. I owned the vehicle for 14 days. This unit has the L87 Motor, and had already undergone a motor replacement under the recall warranty. The injectors apparently were not replaced, only the O-Ring. Unlike many manufacturers GM has removed Fuel Injectors from their PowerTrain warranty. A motor with under 5,000 miles was not covered since the body and bolt-ons were original with 45,000 miles. …

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe diesel unexpectedly lost power while driving. I was stopped, made a right turn, and accelerated to approximately 34-40 mph on a two-way street when the vehicle suddenly shook, shifted into neutral, and the engine shut off without warning. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms before the failure. I was driving with two young children secured in car seats at the time. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle became disabled in the roadway, and I had limited control while traffic was present. The vehicle has not yet been diagnosed, and the exact failed component/system is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The incident has been reported to a dealer or service center, but the problem has not yet been confirmed or reproduced at this time.

On 6/26/2025, I was on an elevated one lane exit ramp of a major freeway. My 2022 Tahoe suddenly lost complete power with no warning at all. The car behind me slammed on his brakes and narrowly missed me as I could do nothing except get as close to the concrete barrier as possible. Thankfully the Tahoe went into Neutral so I managed to roll down the ramp. I prayed that I could get across 3 lanes of the frontage road without getting hit so I could safely make it into a parking lot. I had to call a wrecker even though I was literally two driveways down from a Chevrolet dealership. I could not make it that far with no power and using only the momentum from the exit ramp to get me to safety. I have 32,635 miles on the Tahoe. It was a faulty fuel pump power control module.

Vehicle was driven into parking lot and was idling. Without warning, it began misfiring and stalled. Vehicle would not restart and was towed to the nearest dealer. The diagnosis was a fuel pump driver module that had internally shorted. Thankfully, it failed in the parking lot. We had recently arrived at this location for the winter having driven the vehicle approximately 1500 miles over 4 days. We were lucky the failure did not occur on the highway as the unexpected stalling would potentially be a significant safety concern. Please note that this vehicle is a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The 2021 Tahoe was under a recall for this same issue (see recall N212332040). The dealer said that this is a common problem with these vehicles. Perhaps the recall needs to be expanded.

Driving vehicle from work to home when the vehicle started to stutter and immediately shut down with no power or any capability to turn the vehicle off of the road. This shutdown immediately caused blockage of a major road; since the vehicle could not be moved due to no power to steering wheel nor ability to place the vehicle into neutral. Determination was that the fuel module went bad. No warning of failure of component was indicated by check engine light until after the incident happened. Luckily this shut down of all components of the vehicle did not occur on a high speed road since I did not have any control of the vehicle after the fuel module failed.

Vehicle began making loud knocking sound [redacted] Towed to dealer 9/8 after holiday. They found metal in the oil and believe it needs an engine replacement. A week later I have no answers, there's no loaners available, so I am just without a car. We bought car from Zimbrick Chevy in [redacted]. It was never disclosed to us that the vehicle had an engine replacement right before we purchased. New engine lasted about 16,000 miles. Only once we saw the history of the car in the current dealership's service app did we learn about the engine replacement. This is beyond unacceptable!
