On [redacted], I [redacted] ) experienced the following issues with my new 2024, Chevrolet Silverado - 1500: Front Windshield Wiper Washer Fluid not spraying/dispensing. No messages or symbols displayed on the Driver Information Center dashboard indicating Windshield Wiper Washer Fluid Reservoir low/empty. Inspected the reservoir that holds the fluid and did not observe low/empty. Took it to the GM dealer 4 times and they were unable to repair. My vehicle has a recurring defect with the windshield washer system where the washer fluid does not dispense when activated. This issue occurred on a new vehicle and has persisted despite service attempts. When the washer fluid fails to spray, I am unable to clear dirt, dust, road debris, or moisture from the windshield while driving. …
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Glass sunroof blew outwards driving 60mph on the highway. No other vehicles were around and I did not see anything impact the vehicle. The glass was broken outwards and created an 8" by 8" hole in the sunroof glass. There was no extreme temperature differential, approx. 55 degrees outside. It has been repaired and not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It sounded like a gunshot inside the truck, causing extreme distraction at highway speeds. Luckily the interior shade was closed and caught the glass, but if it was open all of the glass would have fallen on the passengers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No the dealership did not consider it a manufacturing defect. …
I needed a replacement driver-side windshield wiper arm for my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 with factory rain-sensing wipers. GM's electronic parts catalog directed the Chevrolet dealer to part #23387855. The dealer physically compared the part to my original arm and confirmed it was the wrong shape and would not fit. The dealer opened a formal Catalog Omission/Error (COE) ticket with GM. I was then informed that GM redesigned the wiper arm on my truck. The correct redesigned arm has been ordered, but I was told there is no estimated availability date and that it is not currently available through GM dealerships or GM's parts distribution/warehouse system in North America. This is a safety concern because a damaged or failed wiper arm could leave an owner without proper windshield visibility during rain or severe weather. …
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, he became aware that the display for the rear view camera only displayed the top half of the image. Potentially compromising rear-view visibility. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rearview camera programming, but a remedy was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 14,000.
Since new, this vehicle has had two unresolved safety issues. One of which being the failure of a FMVSS 111 required system - rear vision camera. The two defects are: 1. Service 4WD warning message and inability to use 4WD in inclement weather. This has caused safety concerns for my wife and I when traveling in the winter. 2. Failure of the FMVSS 111 required rear view camera system when in reverse. The display screen goes blank with an error message intermittently when in reverse. Not being able to see behind the vehicle while in reverse has raised safety concerns by both my wife and I in numerous parking situations. …
This is a potential problem for a serious injury to a child , stroller, pet - or damage to front of truck and vehicle in front of truck. The hood of the truck is very high. And sitting in the drivers seat you are "driving blind. " It is impossible to see an object directly in front at bumper level. The only way to judge the distance to an object, or small person, is to get out of the truck and look. I had minor damage to the front of the truck by hitting my garage. But more seriously if there were a child or stroller- you literally cannot see it. This could be easily fixed with a forward looking camera - and the truck comes with a rear one- but Chevynfirs not offer any front camera/ park assist on any of its Silverado 1500's.!The manual says park assist is an option- but Chevy currently does not offer that option. This is dangerous..
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact observed an excessive amount of condensation on the interior of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the lifters resulting in misfires in the engine. The dealer also determined that cracks in the rear windshield glass guides resulted in excessive condensation in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 18-NA-383. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that moisture was leaking into the vehicle from the rear passenger's side window. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where the window was resealed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was discovered that there was crack in the rear passenger side window frame. The window frame was replaced but the failure persisted. The contact stated that mold might form inside the vehicle due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
