What owners report
The drivers seat moves while turning. It feels like the seat is sliding when turning then there is a "catch" and a sudden stop in movement. While driving and making a turn the feeling the seat will come unbolted from the floor is a unnerving feeling to say the least
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the rear seat headrests did not stay in place when adjusted to accommodate the height of the rear passengers riding in the rear seats. The vehicle was taken to quirk Chevrolet of portland (1000 brighton ave, portland, me 04102) where it was diagnosed that the locking mechanism did not lock in place and was designed that way. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50.
Powertrain failed and vehicle would no longer move. Engine would rev up, but truck would not move in any direction, almost like the transmission had gone into neutral. Powered the vehicle off, then back on, and it violently jerked, but was enough for me to get to the shoulder. Afterwards, got the vehicle checked out with a scanner, there were no check engine codes coming up, nor were there any lights on the dash. When they checked the transmission oil, there was a lot of metal flakes, which will require a transmission change. Eletric seats also do not allow any movement, making it very difficult when others try to drive the truck.
Headrest interferes causes my head to be pushed forward limiting my vision of the road. This is distracting during operation of the vehicle causing me to not be able to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. As I complained about this during purchase, the salesperson suggested that the headrest could be turned backwards, as done by other owners. As he tried this two items were apparent, first was no support for my head during a rear end crash, and second there was no position holds for raising or lowering the headrest. I have tried several times to work with GM for a headrest properly designed to support my head and be comfortable during vehicle operation. They have stated the headrest is working according to manufacturers design, and said I need to readjust the seat. To readjust the seat means to lean it backward. …
My driver's seat started moving slightly then by the end of the day it was rocking back and forth at least 2 inches. The dealer said it's not under warranty and it would be $1,200 to repair it. I had it welded but the weld didn't hold. I am afraid this is a big safety hazard and should be covered especially since the truck is only 5 years old. I only weigh 200 lbs and I am the only one who's ever driven the truck. There is no reason the seat should be broken. Consumer stated vehicle not included in the recall.
Have been experiencing a disconcerting side to side driver seat movement when navigating corners. Had truck looked at as there have been numerous online posted issues with this issue. Upon inspection, was told the seat frame was broken at a weld point and seat would need to be replaced. Also told they have replaced "Many" broken seat frames for the year and model of my Silverado. Note, this truck has only 16,000 miles on it and is maintained like new.
I was involved in a hit and run accident (I was stationary at the time at a dry, mutli-turn lane light) nov 15, 2016. After collision repairs to the visible damage to the vehicle, I found that the driver's side seat would not recline. Dealership worked on it and claimed to have fixed it. After the first attempt, it reclined but would not lock into place on the right side. Returned to dealership and required metal seat back frame replacement to fix the failure. Dealership couldn't or wouldn't identify this as a problem that resulted from the accident. Insurance would not cover the damage as the direct hit to the truck was on the right side, opposite the driver's side seat. …
The seat of my truck is loose. There is a service advisory the dealers have in their system which is #pit5223: front driver or passenger seat cover / cushion loose. ..... Dealer has attempted to fix it 3 times following guidlines from GM but it is still a problem. A friend of mine purchased a 2015 GMC sierra (which is the same truck) and he is having the problem with 2000 miles on it..... He to just picked his truck up from the dealer and on the way home the seat was doing the same thing. There is an online forum that has many other owners complaining about the same thing here http://www.GM-trucks.com/forums/topic/155228-seat-clickclunk-noise-update/ ---- overall it is very annoying and it seems to have been going on for years and still is because there is no fix. I stopped at another dealer and the service manager said that GM is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. …
