The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while hauling the camper, the "High Diesel Exhaust Fluid", Exhaust Fluid Range", and "Fill DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Now" warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The messages indicated that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid was low and needed to be replenished. The contact stated that the failure caused the instrument panel to freeze and not operate as needed. Upon attempting to refuel the vehicle, fuel failed to enter the fuel tank since the diesel tank was full. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was an electrical glitch and that there were no issues with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid system. The contact was also informed by the dealer of Technical Service Bulletin: 22-NA-150, which the contact related to the failure. …

We purchased a new 2023 Chevy Silverado in approximately January 2023. The onset of the problems with the new truck was Friday, August 4, 2023. The engine light came on, skipping occurred when accelerating - powertrain issues. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and was jerking when shifting between the first and second gear. No warning lights were illuminated. Then after arriving home, the truck cut off and I attempted to re-start the car without success. Waited for some time to start the truck, but it would not start. Attempted to start again after several hours. Did not start until the next morning and was able to drive the vehicle to the Chevy dealership service department, The service department kept the vehicle from August 4, 2023, to August 10, 2023. We were not provided with another vehicle, while they worked on mine. …

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country has experienced multiple powertrain and transmission failures beginning shortly after purchase. The issues include violent shifting, hesitation, and stalling, particularly while accelerating or decelerating. These malfunctions create serious safety risks-especially when merging, turning left across traffic, or entering intersections. The truck has been returned to authorized GM dealerships multiple times for diagnostics and repair. GM service departments confirmed transmission faults but have not successfully resolved the issue despite repeated attempts. The same problems reoccur shortly after each repair. At times, the vehicle has entered "limp mode" unexpectedly while driving, causing a loss of power. On at least one occasion, this occurred while driving on a busy highway, forcing evasive action to avoid a collision. …

The vehicle check engine light came on and a message displayed "Reduced acceleration. Drive with care." My acceleration was very slow but that was the only symptom, although I was driving speeds under 55 MPH. I took the vehicle to GM with CEL Code P078 and they replaced the high pressure fuel rail. Two days later the CEL came on again with code P228B. I was driving on the highway when the message came on and I could not accelerate the vehicle. If I tried to push the gas pedal more than halfway, I would lose both speed and power. I could not maintain my highway speed very well and could only accelerate if I slightly pressed the gas pedal. This is a serious safety concern because it may cause an accident if I am not able to maintain speed on the freeway. …

Loss of engine propulsion while traveling down a highway towing a #5000 trailer at 65 mph. Less than five miles before the failure the vehicle experienced a momentary downshift of the transmission such as you would experience while climbing a hill or extreme headwind. No warning lights were present at that time or at any time prior to engine shutdown. Upon failure panel indicated "Press Engine Start" and transmission indicated "Park" though we were rolling/coasting at over 60 mph. Realizing that we had lost propulsion I guided the vehicle to the shoulder and stopped. Solid check engine light on at this time. Depressing the "Start" button while stopped would not start or crank over the engine. Boost box would not crank engine, slight noise from starter as if unable to turn engine over. Called tow truck, Seewald's Towing in St. Ignace, MI. …

was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn't able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and "drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.

Was making a left turn with a left turn street light green for me to turn across an intersection. Pickup stalled in the middle of the intersection and would not start. With the help of another person we manually pushed the pickup out of the intersection and onto another side street. I received an email at that exact time from General Motors showing a code of P129F which is the Fuel Pump Power Control Module. I am a [redacted] man stranded in 90 degree heat with no AC or shade to get under. My safety was put at risk in the above instance but more so if I had been entering IH 10 into traffic traveling 70MPH and my truck had just stopped running without any warning. This is a known problem as described in GM Service Bulletin 24-NA-139 with both the NHTSA and DOT.
