Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2013 Chevrolet Impala owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
Consistent problems/issues with the Traction Control turning off randomly while driving the vehicle. Which causes the car to almost stall, have issues accelerating, make a grinding/scraping noise until we manually turn the traction control off. Most of the issues/sounds stop shortly after turning it off, but car still has issues accelerating and feels like it's going to stall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 25 MPH, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. While attempting to make a right turn, the front driver's side wheel seized, and the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. While test driving the vehicle, the mechanic experienced the failure. The contact was informed that the front driver's side wheel hub assembly, stabilizer bar, the front driver and passenger side tie rods, and brakes should be replaced to mitigate the failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The tires on my 2013 Chevy Impala ltz have wearn down from the inside of tire in the front you don't notice it at all unless you are siting down and about 10-15 feet back as my wife notice them I rotate my tires at every oil service which is at every 6000 miles the car has 37895 miles on it now they are weorn down to the white thread and only in the in side this should of been seen and me notified st the time of service at dealer at mark christefer chev.in ontario ca. But I wasn't this is a on going complaint by hundred of people as I found out on the internet so far no deaths that I know of my wife drives this car with my grandkids ages 2-13 I had to go buy 2 used tires right away I'm on disability and go to doctor 30 miles one way these tires could of blown while my wife driving and I don't want to think what would of happen but there is something serious going on either the tires are …
In sept of 2015 we had a blow-out while on I-71 in ohio we were traveling at about 75 MPH and were lucky enough to be almost upon and exit ramp where we could get off and put on our "donut" and proceeded to a tire store where we had to buy a new tire.we did not take a picture, figured we hit something in the road. Then two weeks ago (10 jan 16) my wife, on the way to the store turned around and came home and complained that the tire pressure was low one of the tires also told me that the previous day when she and my sister were coming home on the highway the previous day that the car didn't seem to handle normal thought it was due to construction and rough road.. I went out to air it up and while airing it up I noticed a ply separation on the inside of the tire. …
After reversing, then when accelerating out to make a left turn, my car makes a grinding noise, I can feel it in my accelerator and I lose power, my traction control light goes on, sometimes my brake assist, ABS, and stabiltrak lights come on too... If I back off and try again I can then accelerate out and proceed as normal, happens intermittently, hard to duplicate, makes me feel unsafe if I need to accelerate out of a turn then I will not have the ability to do so. I want to take it in to see if it needs a repair, but by reading forums, many many people have had this same problem with the Chevy Impala and have paid hundreds of dollars to get different things fixed, and it doesn't solve the issue. Started 3 weeks ago, and has happened many time in that 3 weeks. My car has about 85,000 miles on it. I use to love my Impala, now just want to get rid of it.
Goodyear Eagle ls 2 tire on a 2013 Impala experienced a sidewall split and tire deflation while driving on a city street. The distance covered from the time the tire developed a perceptible "thump" till the sidewall ruptured and tire went flat was between one and two miles. Until that time, the tps did not come on. The entire event occurred within 5 minutes. Separation occurred between the radial plies and the outer rubber coverig of the sidewall. The Goodyear Eagle ls 2 tires were original equipment on this vehicle. Mileage on the tires at the time of this failure was 39,000. Tires have always beem maintained to manufacturers specifications.
"Takata recall" when I turn my wheel to the left and proceed to drive . The traction control light comes on and I hear a rubbing noise. I have had it looked at and they don't believe the wheel hub or bearings is bad. I have noticed other Impala owners are having the same issue. My vehicle is 78,000 miles and my bumper to bumper warranty has expired. I feel that this should be fixed by Chevrolet by a recall. Asap I am needing to drive across the country of round trip miles of 4,000. Very scared to drive my car , afraid that it is the bearing and will lock up on me on the freeway. Please take immediate attention to this problem.
I just purchased my vehicle 3 months ago and about 2 weeks ago, I've been having issues with traction control, ABS and service stabilitrak. It seems I get this problem when I just start my car and try to turn the wheel right, at low speeds it feels like it's grinding. This problem has happened a few times since then (not consistent) and every time it grinds I get a traction control light pop up. This problem is happening when there is no rain or snow on the road. I have done some research and it seems a lot of people are having the same issue with Chevrolet Impala's. I believe this should be recalled it is very dangerous!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Impala equipped with Goodyear Eagle ls-2 tires, size: p225/55r17. The contact stated that the tire warning light illuminated because the front passenger side tire developed a slow leak. Several days later, while pulling out of the driveway at 10 MPH, the contact noticed that the vehicle drove abnormally. The contact pulled over and noticed that the front passenger tire thread separated. The manufacturer was not notified. The tire was replaced. The tire and vehicle failure mileage was approximately 36,000. The VIN was not available.
Cords in there of the four tires on our 2013 Chevrolet Impala ruptured, causing bulging on the inside margin of the tire faces. The bulging caused the steering wheel and entire car to shake at all speeds. The tires had to be replaced long before the end of the tread life. The tires, which were original equipment on the car, were Goodyear Eagle ls2, size p225/55r17, dot# m643 bhdr 2312. Continue use would have resulted in damage to suspension and drive line components and possible catastrophic tire failure.
