What owners report

Vehicle had approximately 5000 miles on it when the electronic trunk release failed to operate. Trunk would not unlock or open from the key fob or the push button inside the vehicle. This was a safety concern as it was determined by the dealer of a faulty fuse box which controlled several other components of the vehicles electrical system. Dealer informed customer that the fuse box was on back order due to a large number of replacements for the same issue occurring.

When operating the car it began to slow down. Once I approached a stop the car engine shut off. After a few minutes I was able to start again. After I drove through the light and proceeded home about 2 miles away from the initial stop, the car shut off again. It was sent to vandergriff Chevrolet in arlington, texas and the issue they said had something to do with a cam magnet- this was nov 2021. Today- November 7 2022 the same thing happened as I was headed to the store. I dropped the car off yet again for repair. The service advisors didn't know how to fix it and had the car for two weeks. They expect to have it for another week to assess and diagnose the problem but the fact that the car has shut off more than 3 times is unsafe.

The automatic transmission power train and electrical software system failed, and components are currently disassembled and available for inspection at Legacy Chevrolet. Safety was put at risk due to a sudden loss of reverse gear and erratic shifting while operating, creating an immediate crash hazard. The problem was explicitly confirmed by an authorized dealer technician who diagnosed code P0746 and found catastrophic mechanical failure, including completely sheared and stripped metal teeth on the internal clutch hub assembly. Total transmission replacement is required at a cost of $5,400. This failure occurred after the mandated Safety Recall N242480630 software update was completed on June 25, 2026. When shifting the vehicle into park and attempting to turn off car, vehicle will give a message on dash "shift to park" when the vehicle is already in park. This issue can cause possible rolling of vehicle for not properly being in park. Power draining due to instruments not shutting down properly. Possible theft of vehicle due to vehicle not locking while exiting. You have to remove from park and shift back into park a few times so the computer can actually recognize that vehicle is in park. A lot of 2017+ Camaros are having this issue. Needs to be addressed because it can cause people to be stranded due to drained batteries or theft of vehicle because vehicle doesn't lock properly due to computer thinking vehicle isn't in park.
