What owners report
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that the rear glass attached to the cloth convertible top had become unsecured and the contact was concerned that the rear glass may separate from the convertible top. The contact stated that the rear glass panel was attached to the cloth convertible top using glue, and the glue had failed, causing the glass panel to become unsecured. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact was advised that the entire convertible top needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the convertible top was previously replaced due to a similar failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.
I have a 2018 Camaro Convertible. There is a known issue with the convertible tops on these cars. The rear glass separates from the top because of a manufacturing defect. I was told this is not a recall but other Camaro owners reported that GM replaced the top for them at no cost if you make a formal complaint/request. I reached out to GM directly and they told me to visit this webites instead. I am attaching photos.
GM has a service bulletin about issue. it involves all 2016 to current Camaro Convertible models. Back window that is sealed to the top just suddenly pops out. Rolling down window at highway speed while top up just pops out back window. the service bulletin states that and insufficient amount of primer is used during the assembly process. This allows the material to separate from glass. Window just pops out. purchased car new november of 2018 with 50 miles on it. car is garage kept and has less then 17000 miles. i am on my 3rd top. Gm will not cover the serious and potentially dangerous problem. TOP right of passenger side window failed. driving with top up and window open will further seperate glass from top and blow out. car is not safe to drive with top up.
The windshield is constantly fogging to the point that it is dangerous to drive. Half of the windshield fogs over because GM states that its designed that way....which is great if driving with my head out the driver side window. I have sent multiple pictures to GM and they say its normal. It's so ridiculous that the owner of the dealership offered to buy the vehicle back because GM is no help. GM can not be allowed to dismiss this seroius plroblem. If you cant see out of a windshield, how is anyone suppose to drive a vehicle safely??? I can submit multiple pictures of myself attempting to drive while this is happening.
The autodimming rear view mirror has begun to darken in normal light and makes it difficult to see out of the mirror at traffic and objects behind the car, making for a potential safety hazard. The mirror looks like the pixels for the autodimming feature have cracked and leaked out, blocking visibility
The windshield fogs up and drips with air on the feet. No way to clear the increasing fog unless you turn the air-conditioning off and increase the heat there for on the 90+ hot and muggy day you are left with heat exhaustion or pulling over on the side of the roadways which is never safe. When it rains good luck deciding if you want to turn the window defoggers on and cause condensation or open the windows in the rain to get wet which makes the windows steam up completely or last resort is to turn the heat up on the defrosters and heat up the whole car. . Or again, pull over to the side of the road indefinitely or do not drive your car in 80% of the south's weather conditions. Really sad that GM and the Chevrolet dealerships fix to this issue is to say "welcome to the south" and laugh. This happens when its muggy out, raining, cool and wet, early morning or late evening. …
On cold morning start, the climate control, radio, radio lights, blinker ticking audio, driver information display, steering wheel hands free phone control (speedometer, tps readings, trip info, etc..) does not power on. Driver cannot defrost the window. Then... After car is driven 10-15 miles they power on. (car warms up some) internet search reveals many others with similar problem. Some say clip a white wire behind radio, real fix is replace BCM. And dealer only program, the vehicle specific BCM (body control module) it May sound easy to just say... Dont drive the car, but if you have no other means.... Who is going to do that? I am a ase certified tech, though expired 2002. Not wrenching anymore but I know a little bit. . I'm not looking for free fix! This could be a real problem [redacted]see---> https://www.youtube.com/results? …
1st problem, the left speaker started a loud screeching noise while the radio was still playing. I had to stop the car and turn off the engine to stop the noise. 2nd problem, when I hit a bump in the road, the radio shuts off. I can't get local stations. Only sirrus station. Now when I turn the steering wheel too hard the radio shuts off then comes back on. Now while driving on the high ways, the dash board lightsturns off by them selves momentarily then turns back on. Also because of these problems, I turn the radio off... And while driving the radio turns on by itself. Driver-side back -up light was replaced visibility /wiper needs replacing wiper fluid squirt dosen't work effectively .. Maybe nozzle is clogged d
