I have had problems with my 1995 Astro van 4.03l from the day I bought it hard starting asb locking up dealer replaced EGR value twice took back with same problem 3 months later was told nothing wrong computer digital check said so now I have gotten 2 mechanics to look at it and said the EGR valve fuel lind stays open pouring out gas they want to charge my 600.00 to clean out the sluge this problem has been going on for 3 years my van now has 82000 miles and it sounds and smells like a mac truck I also has to replace to wiper motor about 2 years ago and I paid for it I just a notice to replace it it no charge I cant find the orginal receipt so I'm out another120.00 for that repair along with the 65.00 so a local mechanic. …
Windshiel wipers intermittently quit working, just like my 1996 blazer and 1997 k3500. This is a serious problem involving what appears to be all of GM's vehicles where the wipers quit working at critical times or May not begin working when needed. Please help consumers today.
While driving at highway speeds the passenger's side rear view mirror popped out. It was replaced with a plastic mirror. The drivers side rear view mirror also came off while driving. The dealer was notified but did not resolve the problem.
Have had numerous intermittent failures of the wiper system. Reported the first incident to the dealer while the vehicle was under warranty. They found no faults with the vehicle. The wipers have been operating intermittently all thru the vehicles life. It did not happen very often at first, but as the vehicle has gotten older it occured more frequently. It finally quit working altogether today 1feb99. Being an ase certified technician, I made a diagnosis of the vehicle myself. I discovered that the circuit board inside the wiper motor was at fault. I could lightly tap the circuit board and the wipers would resume operation. When I called my local dealer to check on the part I learned that this item has a particularly high failure rate. They actually had 63 of them in stock. The parts person stated that they sell like hotcakes. …
Fuel injector plugs up and fails. It runs very rough. Nothing can prevent problem per dealer service techs. I was told it was due to poor design. It has occurred twice now. The first covered under warranty. The second was not and chev corp refused to cover second replacement. Loop hole in warranty. This problem occurs about every 40,000 to 45,000 miles. I was told the service department is starting to see alot of this lately. Windshield wipers- they were working intermittently. The first time they went out it was on the freeway in a heavy storm. The dealer could not find a problem. It did not fail in their shop. It took two shops before they found the problem. It was some typr of loose electrical wiring. Not covered by dealer due to me being over mileage.
The windshield wipers on my van fail to operate about 50% of the time. I was told that this is a common problem with the Astro and that it was recalled in vans with certain VIN numbers. I do not understand why my windshield wiper motor has not been recalled. I never know when my wipers will work or not, which is extremely frustrating. Many times I've had to remain in my van until the rain stopped before I could drive home. Now, my vehicle is due for inspection, and because of my defective wipers, I am not able to pass inspection. I would appreciate it if you would look into this matter. I will have to spend an outrageous amount of money to replace a defective wiper motor which should be replaced by the Chevrolet company. The windshield wipers have worked intermittently since March 1997, at which time we took it to selman Chevrolet and were told that the warranty time had elapsed and we would have to pay the $80 - $100 for repair. The cost has prohibited us from repairing them. Now we hear that there is a recall on the same part for windshield wipers in blazers, suburbans, etc. We feel that the part should be replaced for astrovan owners also. Please help us to get this taken care of in a timely manner. Thank you and thanks for having people available for us west coast people. I have reviewed numerous complaints on the same problem.windshield wipers quit working in the middle of operation, and sometimes windshield wipers do not come on at all. The problem is intermittent, causing wipers to fail at high speeds on heavily trafficked roads, during the rain. This has placed my family at risk as it appears to have done to many others. Vehicle transports 5 children and handicapped wife-- if wiper motor goes out during travel at high rate of speed an accident will occur/ we have just gotten lucky. 2 auto places said that part is on recall from Chevrolet but can't find any definate information or recall number to complain to Chevrolet. My kids range from 16-4 and I would hate for an accident to cause their lives if it can be avoided. Is their a recall on this part? What is the recall number? Thank you.
The speed ometer works intermittenly and the windshield wipers also work intermittenly. Sometimes the car stalls, or will not start and when taken to a dealer they came nothing is wrong. It also will sometimes run rough and will have a service engine soon light come on. I did receive a letter from Chevrolet regarding some of these problems, but I was told my car did not qualify for a recall repair because there was nothing wrong.
