Engine continually would not start with numerous documented car electrical the problem is a Volkswagen faulty electrical design caused my wiring to burn up as a result when they placed the wiring fuse box on top of the battery causing both heat and chemical corrosion stress on the vehicles's electrical systems. Currently, no pun intended, the vehicle is unsafe to repair or drive what should I do? I cannot safely repair the car and sell it to an unsuspecting would-be owner nor does the local vw want to help me out thanks

Fuse box on the top of the battery caught fire and melted the fusible link from the alternator to the battery connect. Going at 40 miles per hour and car shuts off, no brakes no power all electrical systems off dash lit up like christmas tree. Thank god for the ditch and that we weren't on interstate otherwise someone could have been killed or injured such as my pregnant wife.

I am reporting a safety concern for Volkswagen Jetta 2005.5. My Jetta recently started having brake problems due to the master brake cylinder on 8/4/2017 I had to force my car off the road from hitting multiple vehicles due to the master brake cylinder failing. Volkswagen is very aware of this issue I have done research in found complaints as well as recalls but was told they couldn't help me the fuel line has also failed after replacing it causing a gas smell through out the vehicle when starting after pumping gas. I recently started having problems with the valve body damaged this is a big safety concern for my self in others who own the same vehicle the valve body damaged causes the car to slip in heavy traffic leading up to a car accident. I have done research and Volkswagen is aware of this issue with complaints they did add extended warranty to end 100,000 miles. …

My 2005 vw Jetta gli stalled suddenly while I was driving @ 35-MPH. After pulling over and opening the hood to assess damage, I turned the ignition key but all I heard was the starter being engaged. Once the car was towed to an independent repair shop, the technician informed me the timing belt broke/snapped. I was skeptical because my owner's manual says timing belts should be replaced at 110,000 miles according to vw's recommended maintenance schedule. During repairs, the technician said that my valves were bent because the 1.8t is an interference engine which means that cams, rockers and lifters must be removed in order for the cylinder head to be sent to a machine shop for additional repairs. Total costs = $3,865.66. There was a class action lawsuit against vw timing belts but I was denied reimbursement by the administer/custodian claims were no longer accepted after 2009. …

For the past year I have taken my car to vw shops and highly rated top vw shops in la . My car was dying if I didn't drive it ever day. I had my car in the shop for over a month and after doing electrical checks, giving me an alternator, replacing countless batteries the problem is still to this day unsolved.in the past 6 months things have become worse and can lead to an accident if not fixed. My car has been decelerating while I am driving on the road, it happens at all different speeds and is random. The car will lock up so that I can not make it pick up speed when it starts decelerating and then out of no where it will work again but instead of letting me gradually increase the speed it blasts off in an uncontrollable manner. …

Started having electrical problems (random dashboard lights, doors, locks, windows wouldn't work, key fob battery died, etc) then I had to replace the battery. Continued electrical issues with new battery, passenger side window/door wouldn't operate or work at all. Needed master key fob to lock driver's side door but all other doors wouldn't lock with fob. Next, I am having issues with the car not starting, put another battery in it. From there random dashboard lights, dinging with drl and first few minutes of operating vehicle, and airbags lights are on. My mechanic sends me to a mechanic shop that specializes in vw. Mechanic replaces window manager and driver side door harness. Still find issues with airbags so I take my car to the dealership in st peters mo during a snow storm. …

My fuel tank exploded on my 2005 Jetta wagon tdi. I was filling the tank up with diesel and all of sudden diesel fuel starting gushing out from underneath the car. The backseat bulged up so much that I could not lift it up. The underneath part of the car has been damaged as well. I contacted vw and was told to take the car to a local vw dealership. Vw headquarters has informed me that they will cover the cost of parts, $900, but they will not pay for the consequent damages which have been estimated to be over $4,000, damages caused by the expansion of the fuel tank. I was also told that the car is worth only about $5,000, but that was with a working fuel system, I'm sure. Vw headquarters also gave me the option of receiving a $1,000 loyalty voucher should I choose to purchase/lease a new car through them. …

On the night of 25 dec 2008 my vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection. The vehicle would not start back up, the ignition was cycled several times and assistance was required to get the vehicle out of the intersection to a safe location. The next morning the vehicle started with no issues. It was advised that the fuel filter be replaced and that was done immediately on the morning on 26 dec 2008. The same evening the vehicle stalled once more in the middle of a main road. It is fortunate that the vehicle was on a decline and traffic was moving rather slow which allowed the vehicle to coast to a safe turn-off point. Three hours later the vehicle was able to start once more and made it to a safe location where the fuel pump (aka in tank lift pump) could then be replaced. A new fuel pump was ordered and replaced on 29 dec 2008 and the old pump was tested and deemed to have failed. …

Tl contact owns a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. In April of 2007, the contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07V063000 (exterior lighting:brake lights:switch). The vehicle was repaired at that time. Approximately a year and a half later, the brake light switch began to fail again. When the brake pedal was depressed, the brake light switch would not stop illuminating on the instrument panel and the vehicle would not shift gears. The vehicle was turned off approximately three times and, finally, the brake light dimmed and the vehicle became mobile. The failure occurred intermittently for one month and the contact called the dealer. She was informed that the brake light switch was defective. The manufacturer stated that since the failure occurred more than twelve months later, they were not liable for the repairs. …
