While I was driving I notice my steering wheel making a crumbling of plastic noise when I made any kind of turn . A few days later my Airbag error lamp started to blink. I parked and restarted my engine then the airbag became solid . My dash read "Airbag Error" . I notice all my steering wheel buttons do not work . Came home and neither does my horn . My car has never been in accident , but I feel it's a safety hazard . I'm basically driving mute and I'm sure my airbag will not deploy in case of accident . Also, Vw does have a recall on the Clock spring but was never completed due to not hearing back from manufacturer . That was a few years back and do not understand how recalls work , but a recall was started for a reason and NOT completed. Is that even possible? This a serious safety issue if I'm in an accident without an Airbag . …

2013 vw CC was a total loss in an accident with semi-truck. Side curtain airbag failed to deploy, after multiple impacts on driver side. Final moderate front overlap crash with guardrail failed to deploy driver airbag. Airbag deployment threshold was certainly met for frontal crash and there is evidence of broken sensors. This incident could potentially be considered under NHTSA ongoing investigation pe 15-010 involving 2012 vw CC.
My vehicle has a recall for the airbag which is very important in case of an accident I took my car to volkswagon and they said they put a cover over the clock spring and the recall states that if the airbag light is not on yet they are to just put a cover over it to reduce the amount of dirt and dust that gets in there if your airbag light is no which my is correct still they are to replace the whole clockspring which they did not that is why my car is still telling me theregarding is a malfunction obviously so I took my car back to volkswagon they said there's nothing they can do I would have to pay for a diagnosis test for $100 which makes no sense because it's their recall not mine why do I have to pay when it's cleary a recall in which if they just replaced it it would most likely fix it start date 02-09-2016 description Takata has reported that the driver frontal airbag inflator …
From the Volkswagen recall site re: steering wheel air bag & clock spring. Summary: Volkswagen group of America, inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris May contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination May tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag. Consequence: a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury. The local vw dealer says our car is not included however, nothing works on the steering wheel and the air bag warning light in the dash is on. …
Takata inflators. I went and got my fuel pump recall completed months ago and my local dealer didn't have the parts to complete the airbag recall. They said it takes about a month or two to receive the part and it has been much longer than that and they still aren't able to complete the recall on my vehicle. My airbag light has recently come on and I saw that there is also a recall for a clock spring. I got my car checked by a mechanic and was told I would need a clock spring replacement. I notified Volkswagen of this and was told my car was not apart of the recall but how can that be when the effected models are Volkswagen CC 2011-2014. They are refusing to make repairs on my vehicle. I am 8 months pregnant and feel very unsafe on my commute to and from work. My local dealer is unreliable as they are never able to complete repairs. …
