Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 11V560000 (equipment); however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The powered fold up ramp and motor locked up completely blocking wheel chair exit and entry access in the Toyota Sienna 2011 braun ability rampvan. The alleged manual ramp operation function failed to work trapping the wheel chair occupant inside the vehicle. This dangerous design has been made since 2011 and continues to be made into 2013. Braun has released another in-flloor ramp option this year which is a much safer design that is impossible to block door access even if it malfunctions. Braunability needs to recall this design and make a true manual release that disconnects from the motor incase of failure or lockup. My son is severely disabled and has alot of medical equipment. The jump seat bolted to the other side of the floor blocked entry and exit clearance for a wheel chair on the other side as a possible alternative emergency exit. …
We have a 2010 Toyota Sienna xle. The problem is with the automatic doors and key fob and back hatch door. The key will unlock and immediately relock all the doors. If you touch the buttons to activate sliding doors they work off and on. The big problem though is the back door - the trunk. It opens and then as you are going into the trunk you don't know it is closing on you. This has now happened at least 12 times. I am concerned if my child is in trunk getting bags. It seems some "eye" must see and the door starts rising again. But I have been hit in the back and head a few times. My concern is what if the sensor does not activate and you are stuck in the door/bumper area? I am taking car to dealership but they claim to have never heard of a problem like this.
Tl* the contact owns 2010 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the vehicle did not have a spare tire, even though the owner's manual stated that the vehicle did have a spare. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the vehicle did not come with a spare tire despite what was stated in the manual. The contact beleived it to be a safety issue because the vehicle was sold under the impression that a spare tire was available and could become stranded because of a tire failure. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 20,600.
I've seen that Toyota is recalling many vehicles because of loose driver's side floormats, but not the Sienna minivan. After I heard about the problem I noticed that both clips holding the driver's floor mat back had come loose and the mat had slid several inches toward the front of the vehicle. I think I just never thought much about it until I saw this recall and what happened to that poor family. I had to snap the plastic retention clips back into the grommet holes, but I wonder if this is happening on other cars as well, and if so, why wasn't Sienna involved in the recall?
The side automatic door cable snapped. If my child was in his seat he would have been injured bad. The tension on this was tremendous. All my wife did was open the door. We have a 2009 Sienna AWD and have maintained it per Toyota instructions. Toyota wants $1100 plus $300 do diagnose the problem. This is just wrong. Please help. The cable was hanging where my son would be sitting.
My dashboard is melting and it gives a very bad glare of brake lights, traffic lights and the sun. It also has a very bad glare when raining and reflects tail lights at night. It is extremely difficult to see. When I reported this to Toyota they said it would not be covered by my warranty.
1. Engine lights came on alerting us to a problem (check engine, service engine, etc.). After alleged repair, spouse drove to families house approximate 600 miles away and found a significant amount of oil had leaked from the system - oil had been changed as part of the fix. A second dealer, at the new location, "fixed" with the same hose again, with similar results, though my spouse only drop 120 miles. She is unable to continue the trip home due to this issue. 2. After taking to dealer, was told the vvt oil line was a known faulty part and needed replacement. Was not a "formal" recall, but was considered an internal recall to Toyota that needed to be fixed for "free". Both dealerships claimed to have fixed the problem, though the engine is still leaking a significant amount of oil. There is a significant amount of data on the web that addresses this oil line and the associated issues. …
