What owners report
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Rav4 equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Primacy A/S, Tire Size: 225/60/R16, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the rear passenger's tire detached from the rim. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving on a three-lane highway. The vehicle was driven over to the shoulder of the roadway. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the passenger's side rear tire had detached from the rim. Roadside Assistance was contacted and replaced the wheel with the spare tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised that without a part of the tire, no assistance would be provided. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
I purchased this car used in December 2025 with 10k miles on it. After 15k mileage, the rear tires were bald and I had to buy new tires. I then took it back to the dealer and had to pay to get an allignment, as I was concerned that is what was causing the tires to go bald so fast. That was less than 2 months ago and now I'm in getting the 20k service appointment and the rear allignment is now off way more than when I paid to get it checked. Apparently the rear wheels cannot be adjusted? The right rear is way off and this is for sure causing uneven wear on my tires. It is for sure an issue and should not be, in that the car is new. It is obvious it is a fault in design and for sure can cause major safety issues, let alone burn my money up in needing new tires every less than a year.
Tire size 225/65R17 On [redacted] the front tire on the passenger side blew out on [redacted] just west of the exit to [redacted] as I was driving from Warren MI to Horseheads NY. I was able to safely steer off the highway to the shoulder. A man stopped to help, he put the donut on the car and put the blown out tire in the cargo space. I have the tire in my garage. I drove off the highway a few miles to the exit for Hornell NY and called Williams Toyota in Elmira NY, they had a replacement tire in stock but couldn't fit me into their service schedule until July 15, 2025. I had to extend my stay in Horseheads by 2 nights so in addition to the cost of mounting and balancing the new tire I had to pay for 2 extra nights at the hotel where I was staying. …
- Passenger side rear tire failed - Tire is at dealer and available for inspection - Extremely dangerous situation, tire failed on a section of interstate highway under construction. Only 2 lanes available and they were narrower than normal width. Part of the shoulder was converted to driving lane so almost no shoulder to pull off on. The incident happened on a Sunday afternoon and interstate was extremely busy with weekend traffic. My wife was extremely lucky not to be involved in a serious accident. - Tire has not been inspected by anyone other than the car dealer - If the tire pressure warning light came on it wasn't noticed. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure.

We were traveling across country from Michigan to Arizona. We were 50 miles outside Tucson, AZ on [redacted]. Traveling 80 mph in a 75 mph zone, in passing lane and felt like car exploded and all airbags deployed and we came to a quick stop. No major injuries to either of us. One vehicle incident, did not collide with anything or hit any debris. It was a clear day, road conditions good, no noises, lights etc. My husband was able to keep from rolling and we came to a stop with many semi's etc flying by, very scary. When we were able to safely get out and call 911, there was significant drivers side front end damage around tire area and inside near axle. Looked like something broke inside car, sheered off bottom of tire. Police arrived and had to push vehicle on to shoulder of road. …
Tire size:225 65/17 While driving the side of a brand new tire blew out. We had three passengers in the vehicle that could have been in danger if we were going at a greater speed. We took the new tire in and was told by the auto shop that it could not be repaired. We had to purchase a new one and I have the invoice. I try to resolve this with Firestone but according to them, the tire was not under warranty. The new tire only had 5000 miles and it is a tread of at least 60,000 miles.
